In what’s believed to be a first, a married couple of TV journalists shared the front row Monday at the White House press briefing.

Fox News correspondent John Roberts and ABC News’ Kyra Phillips took part in the daily question-and-answer session with White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Mrs. Sanders often calls on Mr. Roberts first, but on Monday she called on a seemingly surprised Ms. Phillips.

“Sarah, did you just call on me before my husband?” Ms. Phillips said.

“It’s a tough battle,” Mrs. Sanders replied.

“Does that mean the president will do ‘GMA Live’ instead of ‘Fox & Friends’?” Ms. Phillips asked to laughter.

“I’m not going to commit to that, but I will say I’ll take a question,” Mrs. Sanders replied.

Ms. Phillips commented, “If the president would tweet about it, then it just changes the whole dynamic.”

The reporter then asked whether Mr. Trump is “still committed to appointing pro-life judges” to the Supreme Court. The press secretary noted that Mr. Trump has said “he’s not going to talk to judges about specific cases.”

Mr. Roberts, uncharacteristically, didn’t ask a question at the briefing. He later tweeted a photo of his “fabulous” wife, saying, “I think we are the first wife-husband front-rowers in ⁦@WhiteHouse⁩ history.”

Ms. Phillips also tweeted a photo of them seated in the first row, with CBS’ Major Garrett between them, saying “May the best journalist win.”
