Product Description
An epic in the spirit of The Passion of the Christ, this widely acclaimed motion picture is a meticulous recreation of the turbulent era of Jesus and the events that changed the course of history! Narrated by Golden Globe nominee Christopher Plummer (Best Supporting Actor, American Tragedy, 2000), it’s the bold and powerful story of Jesus as told by his disciple John. The best-loved but least understood of the gospels, John presents a uniquely human portrait of courage and passion encompassing Jesus' entire three-year ministry, the final years of his life. Intimate and reflective, The Gospel of John offers an unparalleled opportunity to experience the incomparable life and times of Jesus Christ.

The movie allows other religions around the world to truly understand those well known stories often misrepresented throughout other teachings and portrayals. There are many stories told that those of other religions may see parallel to theirs by simply watching it. It is long however, the length is due to the in depth and detailed portrayals of much of the main stories in the Bible. Overall, the film served its purpose in helping those who seek to understand the Bible and how Christians belief is founded. It is geared towards all who want to learn more about the Bible and the Gospel of John specifically. The film is a must see for all Christians and non-Christians.

The people who received their miracles were well portrayed:
the man at the pool,
the Samaritan woman at the well
and my favourite, the blind man from birth.
I found it funny to watch him looking around all over up and around at the impressive Temple while being escorted by the Temple Guards to his own Inquisition and his replies to his Inquisitors/Pharisees really funny. He probably would have actually done that being blind from birth and now seeing.
Watching it surprised me because it put the Humanity and emotions behind the words spoken and reminded me that they did not speak in a monotone nor with a stiff upper lip British(emotion-less) accent. I kept listening again and again and thought Wow! It felt like that?!?! And, the real Jesus joins in with extra commentary which makes it even more fun and at times, involves lots of wailing.
Now, I've mentioned this to some English friends but they didn't want to watch/hear a Jesus which was emotional. Made me wonder what's going on.
Bought this to give to a Spanish friend who is wants to practice his English with a proper British accent. Hope he will be able to tell me whereabouts in Andalusia it was filmed in.
I give a big applaud to all the actors especially Henry Ian Cusick and narrator Christopher Plummer as this account of the Gospel of John is given word for word from the Good News Bible (depending on This DVD really brings the Gospel alive.
Henry Ian Cusick also plays a very credible Jesus (along with Robert Powell in Jesus of Nazareth).
I can watch this DVD time and time again without getting bored. It is a real gift to be able to get to understand the Bible in a visual format and I highly recommend it.
