The popular Ford F-150 has already been available with the FX4 and Raptor off-road packages, so was there really a need for the F-150 with the Tremor off-road package? After testing the Ford F-150 Tremor during the 2022 Four Wheeler Pickup Truck of the Year test, we can confidently say yes. To put it simply, the Ford F-150 Tremor fills the wide off-road capability gap between the FX4 and Raptor off-road packages.

Ram Rebel Competitor

We think the Ford F-150 Tremor is for the truck buyer that doesn't really want the flashiness of the Ford Raptor, but still requires great off-road capability as well as high-grade amenities, comfort, towing, and cargo capacity. Where the Ford Raptor is a direct competitor for the Ram TRX, the Ford F-150 Tremor is a competitor for the Ram Rebel.

One of the first things we noticed during testing at the 2022 Four Wheeler Pickup Truck of the Year competition was the massive amount of rear suspension articulation on the Ford F-150 Tremor. The suspension stretches out to keep tires on the ground and provide a smooth ride on the trail.

Upgraded Suspension, Driveline Hardware,and More

The Ford F-150 Tremor features upgraded suspension and driveline hardware, increased suspension travel, approach, breakover, and departure angles, and it comes standard with a selectable locking rear differential and available front Torsen limited-slip differential. The Ford F-150 Tremor is available in three versions, each featuring a standard F-150 Raptor-style front skidplate, off-road running boards, unique hood, and grille with orange highlights and trim. Available Ford F-150 Tremor off-road technology includes enhanced Trail Control, Trail One-Pedal Drive, and Trail Turn Assist. New 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires are mounted on 18-inch wheels to provide added ground clearance and a one-inch wider stance for more stability off-road. Ford F-150 Tremor has 1.5 inches more total travel in the rear and an additional inch of total travel up front.

The Ford F-150 Tremor has improved approach, departure and breakover angles thanks in part to the larger tires, increased height and heavy-duty front skidplate. The tuned suspension works well in a variety of conditions on and off-road.

Raptor's Torque-on-Demand Transfer Case

Tremor high series customers get a torque-on-demand transfer case similar to the high-performance unit in F-150 Raptor. This transfer case merges all-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive capabilities to handle whatever off-road environment you encounter.

Tremor Towingand Payload

In addition to off-road ability, the Ford F-150 Tremor maintains the day-to-day capability expected of every F-150 pickup. Tremor has a maximum conventional tow rating of 10,900 pounds and a maximum payload rating of 1,885 pounds, so you don't have to leave the toys behind. Like other F-150 models equipped with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6, Pro Power Onboard is available with 2.0 kilowatts of exportable power in the bed for tools or other electrical devices.

F-150 Tremor Exterior Features

You'll find a redesigned front end with a more muscular and aggressive profile along with a unique grille featuring a blacked-out Ford oval, highlighted by the signature Tremor Active Orange. Raptor-inspired fixed running boards are mounted close to the body for protection, while a cutout rear bumper features a high-flow dual exhaust flanking two rear recovery hooks. Active Orange-highlighted badging appears on the fenders, bed sides, recovery points, and tailgate.

F-150 Tremor Interior Details

Inside, Active Orange accents the Tremor detailing, including the unique seat trim with special stitching, materials, and finishes for the instrument panel, center console, and doors. Six auxiliary power switches are mounted in the overhead console to power aftermarket components. A variety of off-road lighting options can be dealer-installed on all Tremor models.
