'World class'... Joe Willock blown away by 24-year-old Newcastle teammate vs Tottenham

Newcastle United are flying at the moment.

Results might have papered over some reasonably unconvincing performances straight after the international break but Newcastle turned on the style on Saturday.

Eddie Howe’s side utterly dismantled a sorry Tottenham side at St James’ Park to renew hope of a top-six finish in the Premier League.

Newcastle are now surely in the driving seat in that battle.

They boast a game in hand on West Ham and are in much better form than Manchester United, with Erik ten Hag’s side still to play.

It is of course worth noting that Newcastle have already beaten the Red Devils twice this season, too.

To have found such good form of late in the midst of an unrelenting injury crisis is testament to the fantastic work Howe has done.

Joe Willock was the latest casualty on that front having been forced off against Fulham last week.

Watching on from the sidelines on Saturday, he was delighted for one of his teammates.

Indeed, Alexander Isak was the subject of his praise.

The 24-year-old bagged a brace against Spurs to continue his fine run of form of late and had the likes of Anthony Gordon predicting he could become one of the very best players in the world.

Willock, it seems, thinks the super Swede is already there.

After the game, Isak took to Instagram to caption a collection of images of himself in action: “Always a pleasure”.

In response, Willock wrote “World class.”

Alexander Isak could win the Golden Boot this year

While Manchester City’s Erling Haaland won the Golden Boot at a relative canter last season, things look somewhat different this time around.

Isak is only three goals off Haaland in the lead, scoring 17 goals to the Norwegian’s 20. Ollie Watkins, Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Salah are also in the running but Isak has some favourable games to play.

Newcastle are still to host Burnley and Sheffield United this season, while Brighton and Manchester United aren’t exactly the most robust defensively right now.

Isak will feel confident about adding to his tally.
