Killing Eve star Jodie Comer says 'everything has fallen into place' after finding love with American lacrosse player James Burke - as she snubs gossip about his alleged Republican politics
British actress Jodie Comer has insisted she's still 'very much' in love with her boyfriend James Burke, in the wake of the controversy over his politics and alleged support of Donald Trump.
The Killing Eve star, 27, told Marie Claire Australia on Thursday that 'everything has fallen into place' since she began dating the American lacrosse player earlier this year.
'My personal life feels so sacred to me now, and it's something I want to protect no end,' she told the publication.
Still going strong: British actress Jodie Comer has insisted she's still 'very much' in love with her boyfriend James Burke, in the wake of the controversy over his alleged political beliefs
'But yeah, I'm still there. Very, very much there.'
While she had nothing but positive things to say about James, her romance has attracted negative headlines in recent months - a subject she did not address in her latest interview.
Earlier in the year, the BAFTA winner faced backlash on social media after it was alleged her boyfriend was a supporter of the Republican party.
Official records in the U.S. reportedly showed that James is a registered Republican voter, although many members of the party strongly oppose President Trump.
Some Twitter users criticised Jodie for dating James after jumping to the conclusion, without any evidence, that he must be a Trump supporter, calling for her to be 'cancelled'.

Outspoken fans also claimed that her public support for the Black Lives Matter movement and LGBT rights, and the fact that her Killing Eve character Villanelle is bisexual, are at odds with any Republican beliefs.
Appearing on the cover of January's InStyle magazine last week, Jodie determinedly slammed 'the absurdity' of the accusations and insisted she refused to respond to claims that James supports Trump for the sake of her 'health'.
She said: 'It was really shocking. It was the first time I had ever been dragged into something like that. And it wasn't just me; it was my family...

'I had seen the absurdity of what I was being accused of, and what my partner was being accused of... I decided for my own health that I was not going to try and convince these people otherwise. I just wasn't going to do it.'
Jodie met her boyfriend, 26, who works in tech and 'isn't in the public eye at all', at a party last summer while shooting her upcoming movie Free Guy in Boston.
Last month, she broke her silence for the first time regarding the speculation about James' politics, insisting 'false information came out' about him.
