Joan Lunden

Joan Lunden was born in 1950, September 19 in California, USA. She was born to the physician father Erle Murray and mother Gladyce Lorraine. After finishing high school, Joan enrolled at California State University in Sacramento and got her Bachelor's in liberal arts. She then became a student in Universidad de Las Americas where she focused on becoming an expert in Spanish as well as anthropology. She has done some work as a teacher at Montclair State College. She had a course and taught people about journalism in broadcasting world.

Career

Her career began in 1975 when she was hired by WABC-TV. In 1976, she got a job as a co-anchor for the weekend show. Later that year she worked with Sandy Hill on ABC covering Winter Olympics. Due to her popularity, she became a regular co-host working alongside David Hartman. Her later portion of the career was with Charlie Gibson. Joan Lunden had a great and vivid reporting job since she had worked from twenty-six different countries and covered news of 4 different presidents and every single Olympic Games from the period of 70's through 90's. Her popularity allowed her to get interviews with presidents and first ladies.

Joan Lunden also has appeared in some movies and TV shows in her career. She starred in Jason Reitman's satirical comedy Thank You for Smoking which was nominated for 2 Golden Globes among other recognitions. Regarding her TV series career, she had appearances in Home Improvement in 1998 and Murphy Brown in 1992.

Lunden is also famous for her writing. She has written 8 books which are mostly about improving yourself as a parent or a person, whether it's doing exercise or trying to eat healthy food.

Since 2014, Joan is working on NBC's Today show.

Personal life

Joan Lunden managed to graduate high school when she was 16 years old. In 1978, she married her first husband Michael A. Krauss. They have 3 daughters but after 14 years of living together, the couple decided that the best thing for them to do is get a divorce. Joan got a second husband in 2000 when she married Jeff Konigsberg. They got 4 children so in total Joan is a mother of 7 children.

Lunden's father died in an accident when she was 13 years old. It was a plane crash. Joan's mom passed away in 2013.

Joan shared her diagnosis of having cancer with her viewers on Good Morning America in 2014. Fortunately for the woman, she no longer has breast cancer and according to the doctors, the chances of it coming back are almost non-existent.

In 2011, Joan Lunden won Gracie Allen Award for an Outstanding Talk Show – Taking Care with Joan Lunden.

She also has 5 Emmy nominations for Outstanding Special Class Program as well as 3 CableACE nominations for Information Host and Program Hostess.

It is not surprising that Joan Lunden's face is probably the most recognizable one in the American television. Her successful career as a hostess and writer got her the attention and love of many people in the States. Hopefully, she will continue her career and bring good news to American citizens.
