James Reed Sturgeon

James Reed Sturgeon, age 78 of Columbus, passed away January 21, 2022. Jim was born, February 15, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio, only child of the late James S. Sturgeon and Rosemary Reed, and was raised by his grandparents, the late Everett P. and Frances Reed. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy where he was aboard the USS Oriskany during its infamous fire in 1967. Upon his return home, Jim graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Franklin University and went on to retire with over 25 years of dedicated service from Westinghouse. Jim was a Mason, Blue Lodge, University #631, F.&A.M. and also a Shriner, Firelands and Aladdin, Scottish Rite, 32nd degree. Jim could be described as one of the sweetest men around. He was laid back, intelligent, and could be quiet but observant. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell stories of how things "used to be". He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 53 years, Jane Sturgeon; loving son, Jim (Elyssa) Sturgeon; grandson, Joe (Meghan Gallagher) Georgian; sister-in-law, Carol Provancher; cousins, Bob Reed, Mike (Emilynn) Reed, and Tom (Jon Martin) Reed; close friends, Jane and Ron Reidenbaugh and their daughter, Kathie Eberhard; and other extended family members and dear friends.
