Question
After finally soloing the special assignments for Furious Rajang and Raging Brachydios (with HBG and DB respectively), there's only one special assignment left for me to do: The Black Dragon. However, I don't feel like I'm ready to tackle it, but I'm not really sure where to improve. Here are my current builds, together with the consumables and tools I usually take to a hunt. I'm not asking if my builds are "good enough" cause they probably aren't, but I don't know where they're lacking.
Since I started playing I've prioritized progressing the main quests with little room for optional or side stuff. So there's probably a lot of stuff I may have passed without even knowing. Didn't get my first Expert Jewel 1 until MR 53, and didn't know about Temporal Mantle until MR 86. If there is anything I should know that doesn't seem to be taken into account in my builds I'd be glad to be pointed towards it.
I used DB from the first Kulu-Yaku up to unlocking the Guiding Lands. Then started learning about HBG and use one whenever I can, unless I either feel I can't tank with the shield, need to be more mobile, or tryhard.

I'd recommend doing your first tried on a group until you finish the armor and one weapon of your choice before trying going solo. Bring far casters and the Ghillie Mantle to load up the cannons and then put a second mantle with Heavy Artillery decos for maximum damage.
Soloing Fatalis is not in my plans for now, but I was under the impression I had to do a solo part to unlock SOS and multiplayer. Haven't tried the special assignment yet but I'll take the cannons into account. I didn't know about far casters, they look pretty useful but I'm not sure what should I use them for.
