Minecraft Diaries is a fantasy Minecraft roleplay series produced by Jess' channel, then later CatFace (formerly known as BluJay Studios), spanning two full seasons until cancelled in the middle of the third season. The series originally premiered on March 11th, 2015. It was the first major roleplay series on the channel and spawned a number of spinoffs, including MyStreet, Phoenix Drop High, Falcon Claw University, Mermaid Tales, and A Royal Tale. MyStreet and its remake are canon to Minecraft Diaries and Diaries Rebirth, and vice versa[1]. There are currently three seasons and 237 episodes overall.
Jess explained that Minecraft Diaries took a turn in Season 2 that she did not want, due to extensive harassment and shipping wars, specifically regarding Garmau. Being a newer content creator and not knowing how to handle fan toxicity, Jess's writing was influenced and took a turn that she regrets[2][3]. Culminated with Jess's dissatisfaction with the series direction, fear of harassment online[4][5], poor views[6], Minecraft Diaries was shelved at episode 37 of Season 3[7] despite Jason's support[8].
In 2019, CatFace began production of a new series, Diaries: Rebirth – a remake, or reimagining of Minecraft Diaries into what she dreamed of originally[9][10], condensed[11] and with only two seasons in mind[12]. Rebirth only aired for nine episodes before being put on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Jess not wanting to rush[13][14][15].
