Jim Ross updates Jerry Lawler's recovery from massive stroke

Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler were the iconic commentator duo of WWE’s Attitude Era. They are forever linked as two of the voices of arguably pro wrestling’s most electric period, enhancing iconic moments of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Rock, Mick Foley, Triple H and others.

In February, Lawler suffered a massive stroke at his home in Florida while having lunch with his friends. It impacted his speech, but he was expected to make a full recovery.

On Monday, Ross tweeted a positive update about his former broadcast partner, saying he had a “great” one-hour conversation with Lawler. Ross added that Lawler’s voice strengthened the longer the conversation went and that Lawler will “undergo a procedure next week to help his situation.”

It’s great to see Lawler, who recently tweeted thanking everyone for their thoughts and prayers and well wishes, trending up from his health scare.

Less than two months after his stroke, Lawler appeared on video at the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony for Andy Kaufman’s induction. They were connected in a classic wrestler vs. celebrity feud in the 1980s.

Lawler has battled health issues before, including during a live taping of Raw in September 2012 when he collapsed at the announce table from a heart attack. Additionally, he suffered a stroke the month before WrestleMania in 2018.

Best wishes to Lawler as he undergoes this next procedure and continues his recovery. Wrestling Junkie will provide additional updates on Lawler’s recovery as they become available.
