Poison: Let there be slaughter Director Andy Serkis has addressed the potential for a crossover with Spider-Man.
Perhaps the most bizarre thing that can happen to that Spider Man Franchise is how Sony handled the title character and his relationship with Venom. The character made his full appearance in The amazing Spider-Man # 299 in 1988 and quickly became one of the character’s most popular antagonists. Since Sony acquired the film rights to Spider-Man, the studio has been trying for years with interesting results to bring the character to the big screen.
The first time we saw a live-action version of Venom was in the 2007 film Spider-Man 3. The inclusion of the character was something that director Sam Raimi did not want in the film and was therefore delegated to an antagonist role in the third act. Although the film grossed nearly $ 900 million at the global box office, it wasn’t well received by fans or critics, particularly due to its portrayal of Venom.
For years Sony tried to get some kind of solo Venom movie off the ground. In the end, Sony managed to put the film together in 2018 Poison with Tom Hardy. The film wasn’t well received by critics, but it grossed over $ 800 million at the global box office and spawned the upcoming sequel. Poison: Let there be slaughter. Oddly enough, this film had nothing to do with neighboring Tom Holland Spider Man Films that can stay that way for the time being. However, director Andy Serkis seems to think a crossover is inevitable.
When speaking to IGN, Poison: Let there be slaughter Director Andy Serkis raised the possibility that Venom might meet Spider-Man again in live action. The director seemed to think it was inevitable, but suggested that it should only happen when the time was right:
“Look, that’s the question everyone is talking about. They want to know if Venom will hit Spider-Man, but in person it will never happen. I’m just kidding, of course it will happen …
Listen, it depends on when you want to go and also what your appetite is. If people want more Venom stories to jump straight to Spider-Man, you could be missing out on so many great supervillain characters in between. So, in a way, you could close the door by rushing to him. “
