Lucifer boss Joe Henderson has been tasked with developing a live-action series based on Pokémon, the hugely popular cartoon franchise, for Netflix.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the executive producer will act as showrunner, having assembled his writers' room around one month ago.
Since its inception in the 1990s, Pokémon – which began life as a series of video games – follows a group of humans as they catch mystical creatures known as Pokémon, and train them to fight one another in battle.

Since then, it has inspired playing card collections, as well as several animated TV series and films. In 2019, it acted as the basis for live-action big-screen outing Pokémon Detective Pikachu, starring Jurassic World's Justice Smith, Freaky's Kathryn Newton and the voice talents of Deadpool's Ryan Reynolds.
Pokémon isn't the only animated property Netflix is set to give the three-dimensional treatment too in the near future, either. Not so long ago, the streaming platform announced that it was working on a live-action take on cult anime favorite Cowboy Bebop.
