Ed Bloodsworth Biography
Ed Bloodsworth is an American meteorologist who is currently working at WRKG as a chief meteorologist. Additionally, he goes live every day at 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm, 6:30 pm, and 10:00 pm. Prior to joining his current station, he worked as a meteorologist at various stations. Some of the stations include; WFLA, KTKA, and WJBF.
After completing high school, Bloodsworth decided to join the Florida State University located in Tallahassee, in the United States where he graduated and attained his degree in meteorology. After obtaining his degree in meteorology from Florida State University, he moved on to KTKA Topeka, KS, one of the most dynamic weather makers in the country. While in Kansas, he honed his forecasting skills by covering heat waves, blizzards, and severe weather outbreaks.
In addition, he was tasked with leading storm-chasing operations from KTKA which involved organizing and navigating several chase teams in Northeast Kansas. From there, he headed south to WJBF in Augusta, GA. While there, he covered the historic 2014 Georgia/South Carolina Ice Storm and the historic rains from Hurricane Joaquin in 2015.
His most recent stint in Tampa, FL includes Hurricane Mathew in 2016, Hurricane Irma in 2017, and Hurricane Michael in 2018. Bloodsworth is an active member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. He holds a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation from the AMS. During his free time, he likes exploring local museums, hiking, and nature trails. He is also an avid bowler.
