• Jamie Lee Curtis wore a Jane Fonda Klute-inspired haircut in a new throwback Instagram.
  • She poked fun at herself in the caption, writing that she “thought [she] could rock” the look.
  • Fans and followers are in agreement that she actually, totally pulled it off.

Jane Fonda’s feathery Klute haircut was The Rachel of the ’70s and early ’80s. The empowering style spread like wildfire across young women of the era, and Jamie Lee Curtis was not immune. She, too, experimented with the wispy waves as a 20-something, and she shared a throwback Instagram to prove it.

“A klute, pun intended,” the now 63-year-old captioned the post. “#tbt to when I thought I could play pool/snooker and thought I could rock the Jane Fonda KLUTE haircut and pull off the linen does wrinkle outfit.” In a series of two photos, Curtis posed in an all-white ensemble—a crocheted top, white blazer, and creamy linen pants—proudly holding a pool cue. By her calculations, the photo was taken around the release of her movie Road Games, which premiered in 1981.

Remember there were no stylists or glam teams back then. Funny to see it,” she continued. “I think this was from the movie ROAD GAMES that I made with Richard Franklin in Australia with Stacy Keach.”

Curtis may humbly claim she couldn’t pull off the look, but her fans and followers politely disagreed. “You’re so Kute! 😂” one person commented. “Loved the hair do and yesss, linen never looks pressed😂,” another added. “You were, and still are adorable!” someone else wrote.

It’s a good day when the True Lies star shares a vignette from her past. After all, the actress has experienced quite a life well-lived, and she continues to make the most of it, having just celebrated the success of her new movie, Everything Everywhere All at Once.

In April, she blessed us with another throwback photo taken during the promotion of one of her most beloved films, Perfect. She was styled and ready for a Rolling Stone cover shoot with her co-star John Travolta, wearing a black feathery robe just as tousled as her pixie cut.

“WAY back in the DAY, PERFECT was coming out and @johntravolta and I were [on] the cover of @rollingstone and features inside,” she captioned the post. “@bonnieschiffmanphotography took this on my balcony. This was before the glam squad and you just wore your own clothes and did your own hair and makeup. She is a fantastic shooter and ALWAYS made things FUN!”

Glam squad or not, it’s very clear that Curtis never really needed one. Whatever she did was working for her. And when it comes to the Klute haircut, there’s no denying that Fonda would be proud.
