James Corden said many British people genuinely think he was "fired" from the Late Late Show

Since leaving Los Angeles, James Corden hasn't exactly had the warmest welcome back home.
The former host of The Late Late Show visited Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday to provide an update on his life in London, where he and his family moved last year after his long-running CBS show ended in April 2023.
The 45-year-old Corden acknowledged to presenter Jimmy Kimmel that the year following his departure has been an "adjustment."
"You're unaware of your institutionalization.
It's very remarkable. But it’s like, you’re institutionalized in a world where you get a standing ovation at the end of every day. And that is — what I’ve realized — is it’s really bad for you,” he told Kimmel of the transition.
Regarding the reception he's received upon his return to his home country of the United Kingdom, Corden jokingly said that although "people are very nice," they don't think he just left the program on his terms.
"Nobody thinks I wasn't let go. People will say things like, "Oh yeah," while I'm in a pub or something. "Oh, because Max has finished sixth grade and we wanted him to have a relationship with his grandparents," he recalls answering them when they asked why he had returned. "And in all honesty, individuals will say things like, 'I don't need that bullshit. It's alright, buddy. "If you were let go, that was your loss."

According to Corden, "nobody thinks you would ever leave what is — let's be honest — a cushy existence," which is why he believes that's the reaction he receives.
In response to Kimmel's (56), suggestion that the Prom actor receive an official letter from CBS confirming that he was not fired, Corden said, "I would, except they don't know what CBS is." They will therefore say, "Well, that's not a real thing." When I have to tell them about the show, they will say things like, "Hey, didn't it start at 12:30 p.m.?" It's absurd to watch a TV show at that hour.
For a considerable amount of time, Corden has expressed that he wanted to be with his family again, which is why he decided to quit anchoring the Late Late Show.
Following his announcement that 2023 would be his final season, Corden told Extra that he and his wife Julia Carey's children, Max, 11, and Charlotte, 6, "are getting older" and that "it perhaps just felt like the right time for us as a family to be freer in our decisions."
Since leaving, Corden has launched a new business, This Life of Mine with James Corden, a SiriusXM radio program.

When the announcement of his arrival on SiriusXM was made in November 2023, he expressed his excitement with words. "As I begin this new journey, Scott and the entire crew have made me feel so welcome. Being able to have in-depth discussions with individuals whose abilities and work I strongly admire is a dream come true.
Visitors on the show have included the Kardashians, Julianne Moore, David Beckham, Dr. Dre, and even Kris Jenner, who broke down in tears when her daughter Kim, 43, told her why her mother is her favorite person.
Kim told Corden in the video that Jenner, 68, saw, "Kim is the best, there's nobody better." "She takes care of us, we take care of her, she's just the greatest mom on the planet," Jenner said.
