Repeat winners at Dade county fair golf. Jackie Taylor of Gulliver volleyball honors dad Sean

Doral Academy won the team title at the Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition Girls’ Golf Invitational, besting last season’s winner Palmer Trinity, which finished second.

On the East Course at Country Club of Miami, the Firebirds were led by Top 10 finishers Isabella Russo (freshman), Gabriella Gomez (senior) and Mia Caraballo (sophomore).

Palmer Trinity sophomore Remi Bacardi made it 2-for-2, earning medalist honors for the second consecutive season at the event. Last season she shot a winning 71; this season 67.

Nicole Sardinha, an eighth-grader at Divine Savior, tied for second with SLAM sophomore Dariana Breto at 69.

Columbus, Prieto win again

Nicholas Prieto did it again.

The Florida Christian senior won the Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition Boys’ Golf Invitational for the second consecutive season.

Prieto, 17, shot 4-under 66 on the East Course at Country Club of Miami. Last year he fired 68 on the same course.

Columbus repeated as well, winning the team title to continue its outstanding season thus far. Senior Hans Risvaer led the Explorers at 68, placing second overall. Senior teammates Andres Atrio, Christian Figueredo and Sebastian Kawas followed in the top four.

Jackie Taylor had 21 kills and 10 blocks to lead the Gulliver Prep girls’ volleyball team over Southwest Miami.

Taylor dedicated the game to her father, the late, great Sean Taylor (Gulliver Prep, University of Miami, Washington Redskins). She wore his Gulliver Prep jersey number (No.1).
