Exclusive: Shudder has locked down rights to the critically acclaimed feature Mad God, directed by two-time Academy Award-winning artist, animator and filmmaker Phil Tippett. The experimental animated project 30 years in the making will hit limited theaters and debut on AMC Network’s premium service for genre fare on June 16.
In Mad God, a corroded diving bell descends amidst a ruined city, with an Assassin emerging from it to explore a labyrinth of bizarre landscapes inhabited by freakish denizens. The inspiration for the film came to Tippett, whose VFX work can be seen in such legendary films as Star Wars, RoboCop and Starship Troopers, during a lull in his schedule following RoboCop 2.
After sketching and designing a few creatures and sets, he and his stage and stop-motion team at Tippett Studio shot the film’s first few scenes, then suspending work on the project to focus on creating the groundbreaking effects for Jurassic Park.

Ian McKellen is up to no good in the new trailer for Warner Bros. upcoming film “The Good Liar.”
Based on the novel by Nicholas Searle, the New Line drama follows Roy Courtnay (McKellen), a career con artist who sets his sights on well-to-do widow Betty McLeish (Helen Mirren) after meeting her online. However, his latest plot begins to goes awry as he begins to develop feelings for McLeish.
Jim Carter kicks off the trailer with some insight into McKellen’s con artist motivations and his seemingly fool proof plan to con Mirren, who McKellen says is worth millions.
“Is that why you think you do it? for the money?, Carter says. “It’s the game. It’s the adrenaline rush.”

NBCUniversal was slapped with a $275 million lawsuit by Covington student Nick Sandmann on Wednesday. Sandmann’s lawyers have accused the network of defaming him during their coverage of a viral stand off between the student and a native American tribal elder at the Lincoln Memorial in January.
“NBCUniversal’s attacks on Nicholas included at least fifteen defamatory television broadcasts, six defamatory online articles, and many tweets falsely accusing Nicholas and his Covington Catholic High School (‘CovCath’) classmates of racists acts,” the suit reads. “NBCUniversal created a false narrative by portraying the ‘confrontation’ as a ‘hate crime’ committed by Nicholas.”
The suit also accused the network of “relying heavily on biased and unreliable sources without conducting any reasonable investigation of the circumstances surrounding the January 18 incident.”

We’ve seen Emma Watson act before. Several times, in fact. But we’ve never seen the young actress sing — until now, that is. Thanks to Disney’s 2017 live-action Beauty and the Beast remake, we’ll get to see (or, more appropriately, hear) if Ms. Hermoine Granger herself can belt out a tune as nicely as she can act. Ahead of the film’s release in March though, we’ve got a quick answer to that question thanks to a newly released recording.
The clip comes to us via co-producer Jack Morrissey’s Instagram account and is recorded from the tie-in toy, which should be hitting Toys ‘R’ Us shelves any day – or any second — now. To get a taste of what’s to come from the upcoming film/soundtrack, take a look/listen below.

The first trailer for Disney's live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast was full of wonderful visuals that got fans of the classic animated series really excited about the film. One thing they still haven't shared with us is what the actors sound like when they sing the classic songs.
Well, today we have a brief recording of Emma Watson as Belle singing the song “Something There.” The recording comes from a movie Belle doll at Toys ‘R Us, and it was recorded and posted online by one of the film's producers, Jack Morrissey.
Listen to the audio clip below and let us know what you think. She definitely doesn't have the singing chops as the original Belle, who was voiced by Paige O'Hara, but it'll have to do. Regardless, I still think this will be a great movie that will explode at the box office.

It's a good week for Disney fans, especially if they love the live-action remakes of animated classics trend. A few days ago, the hit new version of The Jungle Book became available on home video, and now we get another glimpse at the next effort, Beauty and the Beast. Two new images from the movie, which so far has been kept pretty tightly concealed, are circulating online. The pics come from a brief sneak peek found on the new 25th anniversary video release of the animated original, out next month. Update: Disney has just released a piece of that sneak peek online. Check it out below. One of the images shows concept art depicting what Cogsworth and Lumiere might look like in the finished feature. Producer Jack Morrissey confirmed it to be...

Dan Stevens is sporting a new mane for the live-action adaptation of Disney's Beauty and the Beast - and he's not even dressed as his cursed self. A new behind-the-scenes photo shows the former Downton Abbey actor looking anything but beastly, smiling as he sports blonde wig that reaches his shoulders. Co-producer Jack Morrissey posted the photo on his Facebook page Friday, noting that the sneak peek comes "one year to the day after the completion of principal photography." He adds, "Here is your very first look at Dan Stevens as the Prince/Beast." Morrissey didn't stop with the teasers there.

Disney’s live-action “Beauty and the Beast” remake is due next year, and thus far fans of the animated 1991 version have only been afforded brief glimpses of this new film’s look. (Jean Cocteau diehards more enamored with his 1946 adaptation of Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont’s fairy tale are, presumably, less curious about the whole thing.) That remains true today, though producer Jack Morrissey has posted concept art on his Facebook page featuring two fan favorites: Lumière and Cogsworth.

Cartoons—and especially Disney and its Pixar cronies—have taught us that there’s nothing more delightful than inanimate objects coming to life and singing catchy, Oscar-winning songs. But—outside Woody’s “Play nice” monologue at the end of Toy Story—they rarely cover how unsettling it would actually be to be constantly watched by the objects in your life.
Never have we felt that unease more keenly than today, when we came across some concept art for Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Beauty And The Beast, posted by producer Jack Morrissey, and featuring “close but not final” renderings of the beloved clock-and-candle duo Cogsworth and Lumiere. Played by David Ogden Stiers and Jerry Orbach in the original, the pair were the lively Odd Couple at the heart of the enchanted castle’s domestic staff, trading banter and whimsy in equal parts. Are you of the camp that is gushing at every glint of information, every Easter egg and every minor announcement, or are you too cool, above it all and need to cynically cut down everyone’s fun? (I mean, there’s a stop motion Charlie Kaufman movie coming out this year. Beware, Twilight fans. There's a fake Bill Condon interview afoot. I was excited to write up my reactions to the just released Breaking Dawn Part 2 soundtrack listing, because I truly love the previous soundtracks from the franchise and think Music Supervisor Alex Patsavas always does a killer job cultivating tracks that suit each film’s mood. However, I know that my deep entrenchment in the Twilight fandom might make my opinion a little biased. Yes, I drink out of a giant Twilight cup and can identify every pair of Kristen Stewart‘s sneakers out of a shoe lineup, so my thoughts are certainly tainted by years of Twi-obsession. So take these silly, quick comments with a couple grains of salt, okay? They’re my unedited, unresearched, immediate reactions. Besides, we all know this soundtrack could be made up solely of songs by The Wiggles and I’d still love it.

Robert Pattinson: Breaking Dawn 2 "reshoots" Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Michael Sheen are back in Vancouver for the Breaking Dawn – Part 2 "reshoots" — or rather, "pickup shots." A couple of weeks ago, Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon announced that he, Pattinson, Stewart, and cinematographer Guillermo Navarro would be heading back to Vancouver to work for a few days on a handful of shots. (Inevitably, there are already Twitter stories claiming that Pattinson’s bodyguard assaulted a couple of people upon Pattinson’s arrival.) Bill Condon’s companion, Jack Morrissey, later explained that Condon had not been responsible for the missing (or mismatched) footage, placing the blame on Breaking Dawn 2’s second-unit crew. "The coming additional photography is stuff that was conceived, developed, and was to be executed by the second unit during the period of principal photography," Morrissey told his podcast listeners. "For various reasons, it was not executed by the second unit … So,...
