With rumors swirling that Venom could join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future, here's how Spider-Man: Far From Home could help introduce Tom Hardy's anti-hero. Sony agreed to work with Marvel Studios to reboot Spider-Man as part of the MCU just a few years ago, but it didn't take long for them to see that they could capitalize on the returned excitement for the web-slinger. In addition to Tom Holland's MCU appearances as Spider-Man, Sony started to move forward with plans to create their own shared universe based around supporting Spidey characters and his foes.

This universe, currently without a Spider-Man, began last year with the release of Venom. The movie became a box office phenomenon despite mostly scathing reviews, and resulted in the studio moving forward with a sequel and other films. The success of Sony's universe of Marvel characters and the popularity of Holland's Spider-Man has repeatedly brought up discussions about them merging.

After all, Sony is only sharing Spider-Man with Marvel Studios and still has control of his big screen future, so they could pull him out of the MCU and into their own universe when the current deal expires. Spider-Man: Far From Home is reportedly the end of the Sony/Marvel deal, even though Holland's MCU contract includes another solo film. In either instance, Sony and Marvel may soon need to agree to new terms of this arrangement. Marvel won't want to lose Spidey now, so Sony could push to make all of their films part of the MCU. As Screen Rant discusses in the video featured at the top of this post, Spider-Man: Far From Home could help make this very easy.

Tom Hardy Venom Tom Holland Spider-Man

One of the biggest talking points of the most recent Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer was the mention of the multiverse by Mysterio. This concept would mean that the main story of the MCU is just one of many different possible worlds that exist. While many have questioned if Mysterio is lying about the multiverseSpider-Man: Far From Home could confirm that the multiverse is real. In doing so, it would be very simple to make Venom and any of the other Sony-produced Spidey films take place in the MCU, but just on a different Earth.

This is, of course, the best option for all parties involved, but certainly not the only one. The introduction of the multiverse could bring Tom Hardy's Venom into the MCU properly. On the other hand, if Sony and Marvel Studios can't work out agreeable terms, Holland's Spider-Man could venture to a different world (like the Sony specific one) and get stuck there permanently. However it could happen, it remains to be seen what exactly Sony and Marvel will decide to do. If a merging of the cinematic universes does come to be on some level, then Spider-Man: Far From Home could help set the stage for them to use the multiverse to do so.
