Was the Movie Eragon 2 Released?

The movie "Eragon" never received a sequel. In 2007, Stefen Fangmeier, the director of the first film, said that while he had a plan for how to bring the sequels to fruition, he was not sure what would happen.
When asked about the possibility of a second film adaption, Chrisopher Paolini, author of the "Eragon," said, "I think we'll know after opening weekend."
"Eldest" is the second book in the fantasy book series refered to as the Inheritance Series.
Reviews from critics, including those who enjoyed the movie and those who didn't, expressed doubt from the beginning that the studio behind "Eragon" would build a franchise on the Inheritance Series.
