Get ready to return to Skull Island and reunite with Kong in Netflix’s new animated series. First look here.
Last year we reported on a newly announced animated series based on Kong Skull Island. The first-of-its-kind project ushered in a partnership between Netflix and Legendary Entertainment with Brian Duffield attached to write and executive produce. But until now, the project has fallen silent leaving fans of the MosterVerse to fear the worst.
But now, thanks to this week’s Geeked Week event, Legendary has dropped the first image from the series featuring the colossal footprint of the eighth wonder of the world. Which you can see below. The series has been touted as “a new epic chapter in Legendary’s Monsterverse franchise” following on from the live-action movies.
THE PLOT
“a group of explorers that find themselves on a collision course with strange beasts, terrifying Titans, and the most mysterious island the world has ever known!” and finds its cast “shipwrecked and are desperate to survive the most dangerous place on Earth. The island that is home to colossal monsters, including the iconic “megaprimatus” Kong.”
Powerhouse Animation will produce the animation for the series after a successful spell with Netflix’s Castlevania anime series. Sadly, there is no tentative release date for the show, but with the release of this first look, I’d say that we can look forward to more monster action sooner rather than later. In the meantime, check back regularly for the latest updates on the show. You’ll never miss a thing with Future of the Force.
What do you think of the animation style of the new series? Are you excited about returning to Skull Island? Sound off below.
