Another great holiday movie is coming to Disney+ and we are so excited about this news. The Extended Muppet Christmas Carol is Coming to Disney+ and features the hit song “When Love is Gone.”

The Muppet Christmas Carol (extended cut) is coming to Disney+ this December, just in time for the holiday season.

Earlier this year, Disney+ generated a lot of buzz and announced the return of this classic Muppet movie with limited details. According to Gizmodo, the Muppet Christmas Carol makes its streaming debut on December 9.

Highly-Anticipated Holiday Movie

The Muppet Christmas Carol debuted in 1992 and has enjoyed a niche following over the decades.This and the 2002 sequel It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie have been classic Christmas staples for many throughout the holiday season.

The announcement of the extended version coming to Disney+ has been highly anticipated by Muppet fans.

What’s New?

The main difference fans are excited about is the return of the fan-fave song, “When Love is Gone.” This was a big element (and a great song) from the original theatrical release and VHS version, but was cut when it went to DVD.

Jeffrey Katzenberg, head of Disney when the DVD was released, thought the song was too sad for a children’s movie.

However, fans recognized that “When Love is Gone” had been left out, and disagreed. The song was written by Paul Williams, best known for another Muppet classic, “That Rainbow Connection.”
