ONE MISTAKE CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
... My mistake was watching this movie.
Mannnnnn, Michael Ealy just can't stay out of trouble these days. Facing off with a crazy neighbor in The Intruder, being the crazy one himself in The Perfect Guy and now playing a game of cat-and-mouse with a sketchy and seductive cop? This guy just loooooves getting into hectic situations and you know what? I'm all for it. Mikey's found his new wheelhouse. Fatale is Deon Taylor's version of a trashy 90s erotic-thriller, which are always a huge guilty pleasure for me. After viewing this and Taylor's previous bat-shit project, I'm all in on this guy. I can't wait to dive into his other movies. They always look super glossy and they're a lot of goofy, junky fun. Not a good movie but pretty fucking entertaining and totally cheese. This thing is basically a Lifetime movie on steroids. Don't fuck around with a cop.

Deon Taylor continuing his themes of The Intruder with crazy-ass white people trying to break up a black couple.
This movie is dummmb. Shallow characters, wooden acting, a mess of a script. Yet there's this glossy sleeze to it that held enough of an entertainment value I'm not gonna completely dismiss it. It's like someone took an episode of Silk Stalkings and put millions of dollars behind it.
if you have any questions about how battered the Oscar® image should be by this point in time, just make yourself aware that Hilary Swank has two of those golden boys standing in her vitrina. having that in the back of your mind, please go watch this hilarious little post 90s wannabe Eszterhas.
i think the funniest thing about this direct-to-DVD trash is that Swank also produced it, meaning she believed in a concept that should look pretty bad already on paper. the MVP award goes out to Michael Ealy though, being one of the most uncharismatic leads i've seen in a while.
Fatale is a fun cat and mouse game of action, suspense and thrills. Your level of excitement might depend on how much you buy into Hilary Swank’s character. Also, if you think she has good chemistry with Michael Ealy, then your enjoyment factor should only rise.
Fatale is made in the spirit of Body Heat and Fatal Attraction. It also has some great cinematography from Dante Spinotti, and Deon Taylor is quickly becoming one of my go to directors.
Fatale might not be for everyone, but it definitely was a movie for me.
I haven’t watched the trailer for this yet, but what I can tell you is that the less you know about ‘Fatale’ the better.
I assumed this was just another variation on ‘Fatal Attraction’ but as the story progressed it definitely had some twists and turns I wasn’t expecting.
In hindsight, Swank could have cranked up the crazy a bit near the finale, but in general I liked the acting choices she made here.
Overall, an entertaining thriller that keeps adding pieces to the puzzle, keeping interest high throughout.
A little bit Basic Instinct, a little bit Wild Things, a little bit ridiculous, but overall an enjoyable and sexy thriller. Super easy to watch, a bit contrived and cringe in parts but I kind of expected that to be honest. It was nice to see Hilary Swank, it’s been a minute since I’ve seen her in anything new, even in a cheesy movie like this she’s great, very self-aware of what kind of movie she’s and and having fun with it.
A lot better than expected however still not a good movie. There's a few twists and turns but the plot remains very generic. The acting is below average and that's coming from two well known actors. This flick feels like a B-movie, straight to dvd/blu-ray. Worth watching on a rainy day.
Good evening and welcome fellow Children of Chaos.
Most of these cat and mouse thrillers have awful endings that don't make sense.
This one, I don't fucking get the inciting incident. Did she hire the assassin? Did she talk him in Vegas? Was his business partner actually trying to kill him? Totally didn't get that vibe. The fact she was assigned the case, was that just happenstance?
Honestly, what kicks off these events are fucking stupid.
What we get after that is a fucking boring movie about an evil detective fucking with this dude. Like maybe I could see it as a BLM kind of thing if the black man in question wasn't one of the 1%.
Nope. Just fucking bland.
Also if you didn't know Swank was the villain, then um, you must not have seen the name of the movie. It's called Fatale, as in femme.
