We will be visiting for the first time and staying at the Marriott. Any suggestions on a good thanksgiving dinner (restaurant)that may still have reservation openings? Not too expensive, I will have 2 children and 4 adults. Traveling with parents and two children (12 and 8). Suggestions on "to do's" since alot of the touristy activities will be closed for the season.

costad, U.S. Thanksgiving is not observed in Canada (we already had ours in October), so it will be unlikely that you will find any place offering a special dinner. There are many good, family type restaurants around: Falls Manor, Swiss Chalet, Flying Saucer, Johnny Rocco's and Mick and Angelo's, all on Lundy's Lane, Betty's on Sodom Rd., and even Kelsey's and Boston Pizza on Clifton Hill.

Only the Maid of the Mist, Aero Car and Marineland are closed for the season, with all other attractions being open: Journey Behind the Falls, Niagara's Fury, Butterfly Conservatory, Bird Kingdom, Skywheel, Skylon Tower, Niagara Freefall, Greg Frewin Theater, Oh Canada Eh! dinner theater, museums and attractions of Clifton Hill. As well, the Winter Festival of Lights is on with millions of lights and displays throughout Queen Victoria Park and the City, and, the kids might enjoy the Niagara Falls Santa Claus Parade on the 29th.

Hi Costad,

As FALLSDUDE said Canadian Thanksgiving is long gone (2nd Monday in October). Here though are a couple of ideas:

(1) Check out Swiss Chalet, it is a Canadian Rotisserie Chicken restaurant chain... a family restaurant. They run a "festive special" up until Christmas that includes Chicken (Breast or Leg Quarters), your choice of potatoes (fries, mashed, etc) stuffing, cranberries, and dipping sauce, as well as Lindt Chocolates when you leave.

It isn't homemade Turkey, but it can fill-in in a pinch.

(2) You can always slip back across the border to Niagara Falls NY for your Thanksgiving Meal. The part you have to be aware of though is that by breaking up your visit out of the country, you could effect your customs exemption on your return to the USA (that is if you are planning to do any shopping and bring anything back into the US from your visit... there are exemption amounts tied to the length of continuous time you are out of the country).

Hope this is helpful,

Cheers!

Some hotels/restaurants try to put on a "traditional dinner" for American visitors. We had one at TGIFridays a few years ago-not recommended. Check around-you can find a place, just remember it probably won't be like your dinner back home.

We will be at the falls at thanksgiving. We are thinking of going to the Sheraton on the Falls. They have a restaurant with a beautiful view of the falls & it's a buffet so they may have turkey. It's loccated at the foot of Clifton hill and is child friendly. They also have a water park. The Falls View casion near the Embassy Suites has a very nice buffet and you may find turkey etc. I wish they did have a restaurant serving traditional thanksgiving dinner for us tourist. OH well!

I forgot to add you will be there for The Festival of Lights go to http://www.wfol.com it's an excellent site. The SkyWheel on Clifton Hill will be running beautiful views of the fall. The Falls View Casino has a Xmas show and you'll have to buy tickets in advance. I'm sure the area will be active.
