dave d Vividly scored and mouth watering to look at 'Ága' doesn't have much on the page (maybe a handful of pages of dialogue), but it makes up for it in scintillating beauty. Does it overcome the imbalance? That will be up to you in this Bulgarian drama film. It's soft and subtle and full of nuance, but the finish just didn't connect with me. There wasn't enough charter development for me to care about the ending and that's why it's a firmly on the fence feeling of a film possibly didn't need subtitles or dialogue to get a similar if not better result. Final Score: 6.2/10 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful, engrossing and touching. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Good acting, beautiful scenery, but I feel it lacked important storytelling elements. Instead it's focus is mainly on nice landscape shot. Nevertheless, after the essentially non-existent 2nd act, the end provided a nice theme, and a sad conclusion. 3/5 *. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member I liked it. It was pretty sc Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautifully filmed, authentic performances and a director who allowed the landscape and physical performances to tell a great deal of the emotional story of reindeer herders whose children have drifted away, who see the end of their way of life, and who prepare for that end with nobility and grace. Tom Long Detroit News There is a balance of isolation and expanse in the film "Aga" that cannot be feigned, a sense of the enormity of existence measured against the fragile nature of single lives. The result is both wondrous and chilling. Rated: B+ Nov 21, 2019 Full Review Amy Nicholson FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) You [get] such a sense of place here. It's a really striking film. Oct 4, 2019 Full Review Kenneth Turan Los Angeles Times A small gem of focused filmmaking, "Ága" tells a minimal story so beautifully it holds us completely. Sep 26, 2019 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills Aga is best experienced as a sort of visual poem commemorating a culture that may soon be reduced to a historical back-chapter. Oct 21, 2020 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews An exceptional emotionally moving spiritual drama about an older Inuit couple trying to keep their traditional ways while dealing with isolation issues in the frozen tundra. Rated: A- Feb 26, 2020 Full Review Kelly Vance East Bay Express Ága is a subtle yet unmistakable reminder that there are thousands, even millions of stories in the world that have almost nothing to do with anything electronic.
