TMZ is reporting that Dakota Johnson and Coldplay's Chris Martin reportedly hosted a gender reveal party at his house on Sunday, but sources close to the actress say that might not be true.
Baby speculation began after arches of pink and blue balloons were photographed at the musician's pad, and celebrities including Julia Roberts and Sean Penn were seen arriving. The actress' parents, Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, were also in attendance.
The news of the party hints that Martin and Johnson are expecting a baby together, but neither have publicly commented or confirmed that they're expecting. However, a source told Us Weekly that the actress is not pregnant. A rep for the actress added to People that the celebration was Johnson's birthday party.
The couple is notoriously private about their relationship and personal life. It was just last week that the actress broke her silence on dating the musician, after they've been together for about a year.
"I'm not going to talk about it, but I am very happy," the Fifty Shades of Grey star told Tatler. The couple also now has matching infinity tattoos.
Johnson's father dad was apparently the last to the fête yesterday, according to TMZ. Griffith even shared an Instagram video of the balloons floating over Malibu, but didn't specify the occasion.
According to footage from the scene, the blue arch later became undone, transforming into a string of balloons flying straight into the sky. If the party were a gender reveal, the loosened arch would suggest that the couple celebrating—whoever the happy pair is—is having a boy. But maybe it was just a decor mishap?
Johnson hasn't seemed to show a bump during her recent public appearances, which took place less than two weeks ago. However, a baby's sex can be found out via ultrasound as early as 16 to 20 weeks of pregnancy, according to Baby Center.
Rumors of Martin and Johnson's gender reveal party arrives after Martin's ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, tied the knot to TV producer Brad Falchuk on September 30. The couple married in a private ceremony in the Hamptons.
