is 4k video downloader safe?

I've been using it for years no issues. Their installers are officially signed and approved by Microsoft.

I'm not seeing in the wiki article on anything unsafe, can you share more sources?

yes, the software is safe to use but i'd recommend you use FDM - Free Download Manager.

It'll allow you to download all your YT vids in 4k or in any quality you prefer, it'll download whole playlists into a folder and on top it'll also download everything else (even torrents!)

it'll act as an all in on solution - if that's what you're looking for.

I actually uninstalled 4k a while ago, and just used that the process is absurdly complicated for my silky smooth brain, but its great thanks!

https://youtube-dl-helper.github.io/ is a great way to use Youtube-dl with out needing to use the command line just put links in the text fille and click run it will do the rest

Well, I already got it to work but thanks for the help!

Anything like this for Mac?

That version of YouTube-dl has been abandoned the current fork https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp

yt-dlp --batch-download txt file with your links should download everything

I have a question. I love how this works but my only problem is it downloads the highest quality by default. I'm trying to download 720p versions of videos for mobile use but it only downloads the max resolution (4k). Is there a way around this?

I posted the review/query below at their subreddit.

Unfortunately, instead of making any attempt to address my issues, they chose to censor/delete my post, under the pretense of claiming that my post was a duplicate of another older post (which did not have anywhere near the same details I provided).

It would seem that the problems detailed below are recurrent and something they haven't been able to solve.

Review/query I posted at their subreddit and which they censored/deleted:

I just tried it and it's great for the first 30 or 40 videos. But then I get "Error" for everything?

Have I been banned by YouTube?

But I can still access YouTube on my browsers.

I've tried the "Proxy enabled" thing too (https://www.4kdownload.com/howto/howto-download-blocked-youtube-video) but still get the same Errors (I'm guessing all of those free proxies also got banned by YouTube?)

I googled "4k video downloader review reddit" and this was one of the top results.

Thanks I'll try that program!

Same for me actually, just looking into a quick solution to recover a few botched mp3s from the childhood.

I use 4k myself but also like XDM 2020 (Xtreme Download Manager) with Google2SRT for subs.

I'm calling bull-shit on this one ;

- to many sketchy answers in this thread,

- the link for the WIKI page is a place holder,

- the software is Russian (dgmw - I love the Russian people,

- the guy blowme "using it for years" pushes too hard & references the placeholder link,

& finally

- very few straightforward answers.

Yea, this whole thread ended up terrible most of the answers I got seemed to be by bots so I uninstalled the thing a bit after making this post if my memory serves me right

I've been using CLIPGRAB & doesn't seem to have any issues, however my machine runs slow but I don't think because of that.
