Kate Middleton: best dresses, outfits and style moments
Style worthy of a princess 👸🏻
Catherine, Princess of Wales (AKA Kate Middleton) has a dress for every occasion. From floral midi styles to all-out, Disney princess-worthy ballgowns – there's no shortage of options in Kate's wardrobe. Pair that with the effortless combination of designer pieces with high street steals and we've got ourselves an icon. Scroll through to see the Princess' best dresses and outfits, all in the one place.
Kate Middleton outfit: Balmain mint blazer
The Princess of Wales is an avid tennis fan and a regular attendee at Wimbledon over the years as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. And she made sure to stand out for her first outing of this year’s championships in an eye-catching mint green blazer.
Not only is the style very '80s, it's also very Princess Diana. Kate's design is from Balmain's 2021 collection and features a contrast shawl collar, double-breasted front, and sharp shoulders that are reminiscent of the green Catherine Walker blazer dress worn by the late Princess of Wales to Trooping the Colour in 1988.
Kate styled the blazer over a white pleated midi dress and court shoes in the same hue, and was also photographed at one point with a white Mulberry handbag. Talk about preppy perfection.
Kate Middleton outfit: Beulah 'Ahana' pink dress
Sure, Kate Middleton may not be repping Y2K cargo pants or the current celeb-favourite naked dress lewk, but the Princess of Wales makes sure to stay on trend while dressing appropriately for her role as a member of the Royal family. Just look at the Barbiecore inspired pretty pastel pink dress she wore for her visit to officially open The Young V&A at V&A Museum Of Childhood in London. Kate even paired the frock with white court shoes just as Barbie herself (AKA Margot Robbie) did with one of the actress' many pink 'fits during the film's press tour.
Kate's dress is the 'Ahana' style from one of her favourite British brands, Beulah. And if it looks familiar, that's because Kate first stepped out in it at the Wimbledon championships in 2021. The design is certainly worthy of a princess with its puff shoulder detail and flowing A-line skirt.
The Princess' choice to wear the pale hue follows a string of appearances she's made in similar colourways, including the rose trouser suit she wore last month and not one but two pink dresses she donned for a royal wedding in Jordan.
And can we take a minute for that bouncy blowout?
Kate Middleton outfit: Andrew GN coat dress
This year's Trooping the Colour ceremony is not only the first birthday parade held in King Charles' honour, but also Kate's first as the Princess of Wales. And she included another first for the occasion in her choice of designer. Kate made sure to stand out for the occasion by wearing an emerald green coat dress by Singapore-born, Paris-based designer Andrew GN, her debut in the brand.
Queen Rania of Jordan has previously worn Andrew GN's looks on many occasions, and Kate's decision to don one of his creations now may be in tribute to her husband Prince William, whose upcoming Earthshot Prize Ceremony will be held in Singapore later this year. Similarly, the vibrant hue of the ensemble as well as Kate's gold Cartier shamrock brooch is likely a nod to her new colonelcy of the Irish Guards.
Kate completed the 'fit with a wide-brimmed Philip Treacy hat, a clutch bag, and classic courts all in the same shade of bright green. For her jewellery, she wore sapphire and diamond drop earrings that previously belonged to Princess Diana – and perfectly complemented the jeweled buttons decorating the front of Kate's dress.
Kate Middleton outfit: Karen Millen yellow dress
For one of her first public appearances as the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton opted for a vibrant, corporate chic number.
Kate visited the Royal Surrey County Hospital’s Maternity Unit and her outfit is absolutely radiant. Dressed in a (now sold-out) pleated marigold number by Karen Millen, the Princess teams the number with a pair of pointed suede pumps and a matching clutch.
Kate Middleton outfit: Eponine London coat dress
Ahead of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in London, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a visit to Cardiff Castle in Wales alongside two of their eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Paying homage to Wales, Kate wore the nation's colour making a major fashion statement with her bright and fiery orange/red Eponine London coat. She paired the calf-length look, which we first saw her wear last year, with a classic pair of Gianvito Rossi heeled suede pumps and wore her hair in a sleek ponytail.
Kate Middleton outfit: Roland Mouret dress
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in Leicester Square last night for the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick. Kate opted for a sleek off-the-shoulder dress designed by Roland Mouret for the occasion. The Duchess tucked her hair behind her ears, revealing a pair of dainty Robinson Pelham diamond drop star earrings.
Meanwhile, Prince William wore a blue velvet blazer, with a black bowtie, a white shirt, black trousers and shoes with little planes on the front - pretty fitting, right?
Kate Middleton outfit: Tory Burch midi dress
Spring is upon us and the Duchess of Cambridge (AKA Kate Middleton) made the case for the puff-sleeve midi dress - a warm-weather wardrobe staple - on her recent trip to Belize with Prince William.
The Duke and Duchess stepped out in Hopkins, with Kate wearing a floral Tory Burch number, incorporating Belize's flag colours. The royal finished the look with a pair of her go-to wedges, a fan-shaped clutch bag by Anya Hindmarch and blue statement Sézane earrings.
Kate Middleton outfit: Alexander McQueen blouse
To honour Remembrance Day, Kate Middleton attended the Imperial War Museum in London yesterday. While there, the royal visited the newly-opened 'Generations: Portraits of the Holocaust' exhibition featuring over 50 portraits of Holocaust survivors and their families, including two images reportedly captured by the Duchess.
For the occasion, Kate wore a recycled Alexander McQueen military-inspired blouse from 10 years ago (scroll through to see the previous time the Duchess wore the piece) with a pair of navy trousers, matching suede shoes, a Catherine Walker coat and, of course, a poppy Remembrance pin.
Kate Middleton outfit: Alexander McQueen blouse
Here's Kate wearing the same blouse, teamed with the matching skirt, back in 2011 for a visit to Birmingham's Summerfield Community Centre. While the Duchess swapped the pencil skirt for trousers on her most recent appearance, one thing she kept the same for both outings is her signature bouncy blowout.
Kate Middleton outfit: Red pleated Christopher Kane skirt
Kate, who is Patron of the Forward Trust, recently made a speech to launch the charity's ‘Taking Action on Addiction’ campaign. "Addiction is not a choice. No one chooses to become an addict. But it can happen to any one of us. None of us are immune," the Duchess said in her speech.
Kate arrived at BAFTA in London on the day wearing a red pleated Christopher Kane skirt, a fitted turtleneck in the same hue, which she accessorised with a tan DeMillier purse and matching pumps.
Kate Middleton outfit: Green Erdem coat
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited London's Kew Gardens this week to take part in a Generation Earshot event with The Heathland School, working with students to brainstorm "big, bold ideas to repair the planet and to help spark a lasting enthusiasm for the natural world."
For the occasion, Kate opted for a jewel-toned green Erdem coat, layered over a matching crew neck sweater and teamed with black wide-leg trousers. The green outfit is likely a nod to the occasion's environmental focus, while the sleek yet comfortable trouser trend is fast becoming a staple in the Duchess' autumn outfits - repeatedly wearing the style as part of her 'back to work' wardrobe (see also her recent camel and navy iterations).
Kate Middleton: Red Zara blazer
For last night's England versus Germany Euro game at Wembley Stadium, Kate Middleton wore a patriotic (and, now, sold out) red blazer by high street brand Zara, featuring statement gold buttons and a textured finish. Kate teamed the patriotic-hued piece with black trousers, a white top and matching jewellery, while Prince William and Prince George both wore suits and ties.
Kate Middleton outfit: Camel Massimo Dutti coat
Kate Middleton recently stepped out in Scotland wearing a polished camel look, perfect for spring. The outfit consisted of a tailored Massimo Dutti coat, paired with wide-leg trousers (one of this season's biggest trends), a plaid scarf and matching suede pumps. Oh, and a pair of dainty drop earrings. Loves it!
Kate Middleton outfit: Red Alessandra Rich dress
The Duchess of Cambridge wore a red midi tea dress by Alessandra Rich for her most recent engagement at the Victoria & Albert Museum. The dress, featuring a red houndstooth print, Peter Pan collar and puff sleeves is perfect for spring. Kate finished the look with a pair of gold hoop earrings, a suede-like clutch and contrasting pumps.
Kate Middleton outfit: Wearing polka dot blouse
For her recent public appearance in Wolverhampton, Kate Middleton wore a (now sold out) polka dot Tory Burch blouse with a scalloped collar, paired with wide-leg trousers (which are very on-trend for this season), a navy coat and dainty Freya Rose hoop earrings with detachable pearls.
Kate Middleton outfit: Wearing green Zara blazer
To celebrate St Patrick's Day, Kate Middleton donned a green Zara blazer with gold buttons and a matching shamrock necklace by Daniella Draper for a video message with Prince William, shared by Kensington Palace. While the exact blazer has sold out, the brand still has a very similar style available to shop here.
Kate Middleton outfit: Wearing pink Max&Co coat
Kate Middleton just made her first in-person appearance of 2021 visiting a school in East London with Prince William. For the occasion, the Duchess donned a bubblegum pink coat by Max&Co - which is still available to shop in the grey, pastel blue and yellow versions - layered over a Boden jumper in the same hue, paired with black wide-leg trousers (a major 2021 summer fashion trend) and clutch bag.
Kate Middleton outfit: Wearing red tartan Emilia Wickstead
Kate Middleton looks nothing less than flawless in this TDF red tartan Emilia Wickstead number worn to celebrate Burns Night with NHS Charities Together over Zoom. If you think it looks familiar, that's because Kate's actually worn this skirt before. Yep, back in 2018 the Duchess wore the pleated separate with a black cardigan to meet Father Christmas (remember these cute pics?). This time around, the rich red print is offset by the crisp white collars and cuffs, giving the 'fit a super polished feel. Our favourite detail, though, is those stunning pearl drop gold hoops - LOVE.
Kate Middleton outfit: Wearing blue Emilia Wickstead dress
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed the President and First Lady of Ukraine to Buckingham Palace. For the occasion, Kate Middleton opted for a V-neck Emilia Wickstead dress in cornflower blue, with a matching stylish belt to elevate the number.
Kate Middleton dress: Wearing black and white polka dot dress
To celebrate the launch of Tiny Happy People, a BBC Education initiative, Kate Middleton made a special TV appearance. For the occasion, Kate sported a black and white polka dot midi dress by Emilia Wickstead with long sleeves. While the exact style costs £1,500 at full price, and is currently sold out, we've found a couple more affordable lookalikes for you to shop.
