T20 World Cup 2024: Eight of the 15 players picked in England's T20 World Cup squad are playing in the IPL. They will miss the playoffs, starting May 21. England and Pakistan will play a 4-match T20I series from June 22.

England's T20 World Cup-bound players will not be available for the IPL 2024 playoffs, the England and Wales Cricket Board said on Tuesday. England announced their preliminary 15-man squad for the World Cup, starting June 1 in the USA and the West Indies.

"Selected players, currently playing in the Indian Premier League, will return in time for the series against Pakistan, which gets underway at Headingley on Wednesday 22 May 2024," ECB said in their release. Captain Jos Buttler (Rajasthan), Moeen Ali (Chennai), Jonny Bairstow (Punjab), Sam Curran (Punjab), Will Jacks (Bengaluru), Liam Livingstone (Punjab), Phil Salt (Kolkata), Reece Topley (Bengaluru) are the 8 players in the IPL who have been picked for the T20 World Cup by England.

Jos Buttler was named as the captain of England's T20 World Cup squad which sees the return of the fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan.

Rajasthan and Kolkata will face a big blow as their in-form openers Jos Buttler and Phil Salt will miss the play-offs, set to get underway on April 21. Punjab will miss as many as 3 players if they reach the playoffs.

England and Pakistan will play a 4-match T20I series from May 22 to 30 in Leeds, Birmingham, Cardiff and London. The series will serve as the final preparation for the T20 World Cup, which will be played in the USA and the West Indies.
