I enjoyed this episode, although I have to stop myself from thinking in depth about it because then I'm just like "wait, the resolution to the story was aggravated assault?"

The call back to Spencer's pranking addiction at the end was great

LOVED that Millicent finally had a proper plot, they haven't really given her anything all season. Freddie’s excitement and Spencer's concern was a fun touch too, and then Freddie’s realisation that she had a boyfriend 😅

Hahaha and the front fall was funny

I think they wanted the audience to root for Carly “getting her anger out”. Also a feminism message, women sticking up/helping other women. Those the best reasonings I could come for the ending. This episode made Carly look terrible imo.

It was clever, but at the same time, kinda undermined the whole “your actions have consequences” message from iObject, Lewbert earlier this season.

I don’t know if I can take the revival deconstructing problematic elements from the OG show seriously again after this. This episode established that the revival’s ’morality’ is not much different from its predecessor.

Agreed but it is consistent. Carly never was into violence herself but she let Sam have free rein up to a point in terms of being violent.

u/dmasterxd avatar

This is actually a huge misconception (for whatever strange reason). Carly absolutely did not let Sam have free reign and would try to stop her almost all the time. The sole exceptions are when it was someone who actually deserved it. And the terrible iMeet Fred episode. Which is full of OOC moments and terrible writing.

So it is definitely not consistent.

u/Remdiamond avatar

Many times Carly did stop or try to stop major violence but there were many instances of Sam being aggressive or being a bully Carly ignored. I don’t blame Carly. I never liked Sam though.

So I totally thought they were all going to force him to sit there and listen to why they dislike him/have anger issues and essentially use words to communicate and confront their anger like it was mentioned at the beginning.

That was the most obvious expectation imo but then they subverted all of those as soon as that girl punched him really hard in the face and then everyone else started beating him up and I'm sorry but I lost it lol. Did not think they were actually going to beat him up hahaha.

Chris deserved it imo and I'm sure that's why the writers wrote him to be so unlikable and if you liked his character and didn't think he at least deserved ONE smack across the face then you MIGHT be the "Chris" in your group.

Also no mention of fighting Shelby Marx at all. Really thought they'd at least mention Carly fighting in the past. Anyway, I know this post is months old but I JUST started watching the season.

tbf this is the same solution as the shelby marx episode

The fucker absolutely deserved it

I love Freddie’s face after “Something stupid Freddie keeps bringing up.”

Lol, Spencer denying Pearl being Freddie’s girlfriend.

“And they picked Bran to be king?!” I want my season 3 now!

“Prank Anonymous Sponsor” Man, I love iGet Pranky.

This episode was honestly pretty funny although Millicent’s plot was meh.

iGet Pranky is the BEST!!!

I would have wanted to hear "The Joke Is On You" lol

The Millicent plot was really cute, I’m glad she got her first boyfriend and ugh I’m here for Freddie being the dumb-ass dad 😂

Freddy and Spencer this episode was chefs kiss.

I thought it was a pretty funny episode. However for a season that was teased to be Creddie heavy with only one episode focused on them with no follow-up is disappointing. I thought we would get some moments before the final episode devoted to the topic. They’ve barely had scenes together most of the season. Season one seemed to have more Creddie moments.

I did like this episode. It had call backs to Shelby Marx and I get pranky which one of my favorite episodes.

was this the last episode?

i’m loving how much more focused this season is with Carly as an influencer

u/loneconspiracy avatar

I honestly thought this was a pretty solid episode. Every character actually acted like themselves consistently throughout, and the plots were entertaining. It was nice to see Harper be there for Carly; their friendship is seeing more authentic (when we’re actually given chances to see it onscreen). I was a bit disappointed S2 hadn’t had them hang out together as often as S1 apart from i’M Wild and Crazy. I also really liked Freddie and Spencer’s dynamic in this episode, they really haven’t missed a beat from the OG show.

Fight club for influencers was a pretty funny punchline. I feel like they could have done more with it though

Edited

Inferior Shelby Marx fight clubbing, right down to trying to rip-off Nevel's beat-up moment, worst main plot of Season 2

Spencer/Freddie/Millicent were where I didn't have to sigh and groan at least, Millicent getting a boyfriend is progress they can follow on in Season 3 and Millicent deserved something nice after being forgotten most of the season

u/Not_Extert_Thief avatar

The Freddie and Spencer subplots with Millicent are usually better.

Honestly seems to be an unpopular opinion but I didn’t like this episode either.

That blackmail line has got to be the worst joke in the show, original or revival. Physically cringed.

Yea I remember when I heard the reboot premise that I was really worried the show was gonna be super pandering just for the sake of it, which luckily for the most part hasn’t been an issue, but harper walking in and immediately saying “this feels racist” for no reason just felt like white writers checking a quota for race mentions.

Just took me out of it immediately and the follow up joke was not at all worth it lol. Bummer bc I know they can do smart race jokes like when Harper told Spencer he couldnt disagree with her because it was black history month and he instantly folded

Literally

Wait what was the joke? I totally forget what it was

u/BadCircuits avatar

"Wait so you're blackmailing me?"

"Uhm, it's African American-mailing. And yes"

Oh yeah that was so bad. Even as a playoff of an earlier joke, still so bad

NGL, towards the end of the episode I kinda felt bad for the guy. He got his ass kicked, well for nothing but a harmless prank. It was nothing on the level of what Nevel did in “ifightshelbymarx” when he made it look like Carly straight up assaulted Shelby’s grandma in the video. This A-Plot also proved that Carly’s a HUGE hypocrite. For years and years she “pranked”(let’s be honest they tortured him for no reason)Lewbert & others no problem. But when suddenly it happens to her, she snaps? Needless to say, I didn’t like the A-Plot at all. It was just violence for the sake of comedy. I adored Millicent’s B-Plot though! Finally she gets something with substance!

u/justjessei avatar

And Lewbert actually got injured in the process

Exactly

I feel like they were trying to parody the really evil "pranksters" that do things hiding peoples wheelchiars or sexually assaulting/harassing people but never gave an equivalent example to warrant the ultimate punishment.

Very very weak episode

u/LoreMaster00 avatar

a whole episode about a fight club and not a single sock with a pound of butter on it? i mean, Carly could have brought one to the smackdown.

I've always wanted there to be a second iCarly Christmas episode because I don't like the first one, so I like how this episode and iDragged Him mention Christmas a lot for non-Christmas episodes.

Derrick said he's good at having cool haircuts. Shouldn't he have said he's good at having lame ones?

Who faints forward?

I'm surprised they never mentioned Shelby Marks but I love the callback to the one about Spencer pulling pranks at the end.

They cut that scene in the iTunes version. :( I'm starting to feel like I got ripped off.

Why did Harper say to Carly that she (Carly) was so close to joining another cult? If I'm not mistaken Harper was the one that was in the workplace cult and Carly was trying to get her out of it.

Carly and Harper’s plot was … something. It was both fun and a little uncomfortable. I’m kinda surprised that Harper went along with it, after the mall episode earlier this season where she discouraged Carly from getting in trouble doing wild and crazy things. I thought she was gonna be the one to get Carly in line here.

The resolution being the influencers beating Chris up was surprising. I thought it was gonna be something more subtle, like Carly speaking out about Chris manipulating her on the web-show. This plot line overall kinda felt like the revival dipping it’s feet into some of the questionable morality of the OG show, and reminded me of episodes like iMeet Fred, iLook Alike, and iFind Lewbert’s Lost Love.

The storyline about Millicent and her new love interest Derek was cute. I like that they gave her something different than the countless “I’m right and dad is wrong” plot lines. I liked Freddie and Spencer being protective of her, and the reveal that Derek was really a nice guy all along was nice. The normality of the subplot was a nice contrast to the awkwardness of the main plot.

I also thought the reference to iGet Pranky at the end was great and probably the highlight of the episode.

u/dmasterxd avatar

Definitely not the greatest episode...That’s for darn sure. The Carly plot reminded me of the Shelby Marx episode, but nowhere near as good. Also, this was full of missed potential. Carly seemed genuinely happy to go to that prom and not just doing it to be nice.

That opening made it seem like she was growing out of her biggest character flaws (shallowness) and then with her being upset after that and Freddie being right there. Huge missed opportunity to have Creddie development, which has been sorely lacking for this entire season after episode one...

The Millicent wasn’t good either, but better than the Carly stuff at least. But really? Freddie comes in halfway through the conversation and can’t figure out that “she” could mean someone other than Millicent. If it was Spencer I would buy that. But not Freddie smh.

The ending scene was definitely the highlight of the episode for me. Easily.

I got Shelby marx vibes instantly told my brother too haha

I think Shelby Marx was absent in this episode due to that Netflix Movie/Film titled "The Perfect Pairing", which could have caused scheduling conflicts for the actress that played Shelby Marx (Victoria Justice).
