Hunter Biden and his new wife have a lot in common — like the fact that they were both in relationships with other people weeks before they got hitched!
As we reported, Joe Biden’s son secretly tied the knot with South African beauty Melissa Cohen on May 16, a month after he called it quits with Hallie Biden — who, lest we forget, used to be married to Hunter’s late older brother Beau Biden.
Interestingly enough, Melissa was also in a long-term relationship just weeks before she walked down the aisle. She wasn’t dating an in-law, thankfully, but it was still quite a serious romance!
According to reports, the 37-year-old started dating Malibu real estate developer Rob Mendez on July 4, 2017. The two were said to be living together until April of this year; they broke up, but apparently continued to “hang out” into May.

So when the news broke that Cohen walked down the aisle weeks later, her friends were naturally shocked. Reportedly, there was a flurry of emails between friends of Melissa and Rob, with one pal allegedly writing:
“Wow. She just broke up with Rob! … So I’m quite shocked by this being so sudden after their breakup.”
Girl, same!
“Sudden” is an understatement, TBH, seeing as Cohen, who was previously married in 2011, and Hunter got hitched after knowing each other for 10 days.
But when you know, you know, right?

That’s what Cohen’s ex had to say, at least. Speaking to the tabloids about his ex’s new marriage, Mendez said:
“She found love and she’s happy. She’s honest to God an amazing girl; extremely intelligent.”
As for his own romance with the wildlife enthusiast, the real estate guru said it was “a very, very good relationship. The best I’ve ever had,” but there was a fundamental issue that prevented it from turning into a life-long partnership:
“[M]arriage and kids were in her future, but for me they just aren’t.”
As it turns out, Mendez already has three children — ages 10, 11, and 13. He said Cohen had been close with his kiddos and “actually turned [their] house around,” crediting her with getting the family to eat nutritious food and introducing a “properness” to the household.
He said they separated amicably because he wanted to focus on his kids, while she wanted to reproduce some offspring of her own, adding that he has “nothing but love” for the new Mrs. Biden.
We wonder if Beau’s widow feels the same way about Hunter…
