Work Hours: 40+ hours / week: M - F

About the Role: Administers, coordinates, and oversees emergency preparedness programs, with the objective of achieving compliance with the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Works with various stake holders to update and revise utility-specific emergency response documents, including plans and standard operating procedures. Coordinates with and assists federal, state, and local response agencies, as well as other utilities, to ensure integrated and communicated response plans. Works to ensure that emergency response programs meet existing utility regulatory requirements and safety initiatives. Monitors and analyzes developments with federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, and recommendations (including but not limited to FEMA, EPA, DOT, TDEC, OSHA, etc.). Develops and maintains business continuity plans along with administering training programs and emergency exercises and drills. Will service as a liaison to external agencies. May direct aspects of response during an emergency situation along with conducting educational & promotional programs.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:
Works primarily in an office setting, but field visits and field activities may be required. These field visits may include: emergency response activities and support beyond normal business hours, heavy lifting or strenuous work and mobility over rough terrain. Requires bending, stooping, lifting, and working in awkward and strenuous positions at times. Occasionally requires above normal mental and visual alertness. Physical demands for a specific position within this classification may vary and / or exceed those demands described above.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in general professional or technical field
  • Strong PC skills including MS Office 365 Suite
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently on projects in a timely manner
  • Valid driver license

Preferred Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in general professional or technical field
  • Experience in emergency management and/or disaster recovery
  • Certifications in Emergency Preparedness & Response
  • Knowledge in NFPA standards such as 101, 1600 & 3000
  • Proficient in training skills and qualified to instruct NIMS courses
  • Knowledgeable in developing tabletop and functional emergency exercises
  • Understanding of utility environment with regards to operational aspects
  • Ability to direct work of others
