6. Create an affordable solution through image processing of number plates of vehicles for the detection, identification and monitoring of vehicles in different senarios such as residential societies, tolls, business complex, parking spaces etc.

Description: Many residential society administrations, tolls, business complexes and parking spaces in India lack an automated system for car parking and vehicle monitoring. Most of the commercial and residential places face an impending problem of illegal car/vehicle parking inside their premises. This issue is not bounded to just parking, but also adds to the security concerns inside those establishments. Though there are solutions that exist in the market, the affordability comes into question. In this regard, we would like to have an affordable solution that caters to the Indian markets

Expectation: For the team choosing this topic, we expect to have a working model / infrastructure of the solution wherein, when a vehicle passes through a checkpost and the solution identifies as many features as it can regarding the situation of the vehicle. All Teams will be provided with an amount of video footage. The teams must build a fictitous database based on the vehicles appering in footage and demonstrate the problems that they are able to solve/automate in existing infrastucture. (For example, if a team is trying to solve problems of a residential complex, they might create a database of some of the vehicles appearing in the footage and list them as residents and others not registered in the database to be considered as visitors).

Applicants will be provided video data through the following website link.

http://mixorg.com/competitions/SIH-2020/registration Each team is supposed to download the data and annotate it according to the features they are going to build. Teams must come up with new features for monetization of their business model and must build machine learning models (for preliminary shortlisting and finals) and required mobile/web applications(for finals only) reflecting the same features . Teams are requested to share the annotations done by them on the video data and the pattern of annotation. Teams are requested to build the machine learning model and share a working code on github(privately with @chetanbansiwal or publically)

Teams will be judged on the following grounds in the same order as written for the next round : 1. Accuracy of the model in performing the expected task. 2. Speed of the model in performing the expected task. 3. The precision followed during annotation of data. 4. The relevance of annotations considering the problem the team is expecting to solve with it.

7. Attention Span Detection in Online Instructor Led Sessions

As per a report by KPMG, it is estimated that by 2021, online education market in India is going to be around $ 2BN. The agenda of instruction led session is to do a quick debrief of video lectures for the week and discuss practical applications of the concepts covered in the video lecture of the week The problem statement is to create a mechanism to monitor and measure the attention span of the learners in the instructor led online sessions. Following are a few ideas on the measures that can be used to quantify the level of attention span: • out of the designated session-time, what proportion of session was one-way dialogue vs two-way dialogue • number of distinct learners who participated in the session • presence of background noise, chatters in the session, etc.. Expected Outcomes • Real time dashboard that quantifies the participation for each participant • Real time triggers in case of sub-optimal participation • Suggestions (along with implementation) of other ideas to quantify level / quality of interactions

Great Learning will be sharing sample recording of the online mentored sessions

8. Gamification for Health data collection

Insurance has typically been a push product where the customer is usually sold an insurance by the agents. This makes the product marketing/ sales cost too high due to low conversion rates on insurance sales. It can be said that two factors contribute to this: 1. Insurance being viewed as an expense rather than a protection 2. The long and non-engaging information capture process which is required to issue the insurance.

At Bajaj, we are looking to solve this problem by providing a mobile app as an engagement tool, which also helps you manage your health better. This app will also act as a source for insurance sales basis the data provided by the consumer. Gamification has emerged as a tool in the financial industry to convert the existing processes (non- engaging) into exciting activities. Some examples of the same can be capturing relevant information through quizzes (on say, world heart day) or health score generators (answer these questions to get your health score/ heart age).

9. Lab Report Digitization / OCR

Insurance companies regularly gets health check reports submitted by potential buyers of insurance. We need a way to digitize different kinds of printed lab reports / health check reports to discrete values of each parameter captured. Conversion to a standardized set of digitized value will help in automating lot of backend approval process. Ability to read and classify comments/observations for common parameters will be a big plus When a customer is uploading his health check report regularly, then also a trend chart can be plotted for key parameters. Few sample reports will be provided to the participating teams. Test will be based on that as well as unknown set of health check reports post completion.

10. Early Prediction of Sepsis from Clinical Data

The goal of this Challenge is the early detection of sepsis using physiological data. For the purpose of the Challenge, defined sepsis according to the Sepsis-3 guidelines, i.e., a two-point change in the patient’s Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score and clinical suspicion of infection (as defined by the ordering of blood cultures or IV antibiotics) (Singer et al., 2016). The early prediction of sepsis is potentially life-saving, and challenging participants to predict sepsis 6 hours before the clinical prediction of sepsis. Conversely, the late prediction of sepsis is potentially life-threatening, and predicting sepsis in non-sepsis patients (or predicting sepsis very early in sepsis patients) consumes limited hospital resources. Develop a digital solution that uses artificial intelligence to detect patient deterioration before it’s too late and trigger notifications to clinicians and care teams. Train healthcare providers and front-line staff to quickly recognize symptoms to identify sepsis and treat patients at the earliest. Also, educate preventing infections in health care settings and in the community so that infections that can lead to sepsis can be stopped before they happen. Provide guidelines to follow infection control requirements (e.g., Hand hygiene) and ensure one to receive recommended vaccines (e.g., Flu and pneumococcal, etc.). Abstract Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that occurs when the body’s response to infection causes tissue damage, organ failure, or death (Singer et al., 2016). In the U.S., nearly 1.7 million people develop sepsis and 270,000 people die from sepsis each year; over one third of people who die in U.S. hospitals have sepsis (CDC). Internationally, an estimated 30 million people develop sepsis and 6 million people die from sepsis each year; an estimated 4.2 million newborns and children are affected (WHO). Sepsis costs U.S. hospitals more than any other health condition at $24 billion (13% of U.S. healthcare expenses) a year, and a majority of these costs are for sepsis patients that were not diagnosed at admission (Paoli et al., 2018). Sepsis costs are even greater globally with the developing world at most risk. Altogether, sepsis is a major public health issue responsible for significant morbidity, mortality, and healthcare expenses. Early detection and antibiotic treatment of sepsis are critical for improving sepsis outcomes, where each hour of delayed treatment has been associated with roughly an 4-8% increase in mortality (Kumar et al., 2006; Seymour et al., 2017). To help address this problem, clinicians have proposed new definitions for sepsis (Singer et al., 2016), but the fundamental need to detect and treat sepsis early still remains, and basic questions about the limits of early detection remain unanswered. data set https://physionet.org/content/challenge-2019/1.0.0/

27. Antimicrobial Stewardship Platform

Due to the pollution on the rise, food habits and hectic schedules we are getting more and more prone to health-related issues for which many a times we use antibiotics drugs. Antibiotic resistance on the rise—and predicted to kill 10 million people per year by 2050. Do think of this problem in India context, lack of knowledge, how antibiotics are prescribed, how to gather the usage of antibiotics across the country and how to mitigate the challenge. Idea would be to see what all are the most common antibiotics / salt in those drugs are being used, for what all diseases they are being prescribed for and predict what are the probable antibiotic drugs ( salts ) which would become non-effective after a certain time for curing a specific microbial infection or disease. Requirement is to build an antimicrobial stewardship platform which should be able to provide this solution.

28. AgriTech: Stubble aggregation and disposal

While most of the Agritech start-ups are focused either on supply chain, focus is now expanding to farm and yield management. The area that still remains UN-explored is the “stubble left after grain segregation”. Stubble burning is an alarming issue today in North India. We need to design a solution which can streamline and automate the process of stubble collection, transportation to desired location, notifications around stubble pickup and delivery, tracking of stubble disposal in a more environment friendly way.Try solution around automated farm images, forecast the stubble production and help business to identify stubble production and purchase the same and track how stubble is being disposed off or used.

29. Tourism simplified through voice

Alexa is Amazon’s cloud base voice service, that helps users interact with brands, data, and business logic through voice. Use Alexa to innovate, and build the next generation of interfaces for tourists in India. Your solution should help solve pain points of tourists coming to India like - voice forums to crowd source destination reviews, GPS based voice navigators to guide tourists at historical sites, SOS and emergency support solutions for local and international travelers, travel guides with entry prerequisites, government policies, visa needs, and recommendations on seasons to visit. The Alexa based solution should be intuitive to use also cater to the physically challenged travelers in India.

30. Elderly care system

Develop a technology-based solution for Kids, Senior citizens, especially abled individual on any one who need supervision which can alarm the concerned person in case person who need supervision is crossing a specified boundary for eg 10 meters outside a specified boundary. You should also think about more innovative ideas to see what more value you can bring to these individuals for eg : devices which can apart from keep tracking an individual can also collect heath parameters such as heart rate and alert concerned person in case of any issue. This health data can be further used for research and development of these individuals.

31. To Predict the Optimum Vessel Turnaround Time

  1. At present, Adani operates more than 45 Berths PAN India and approximately 4000 Vessels calling at our Port.
  2. The vessel agents share the ETA by which Port Authorities manage the resource and estimates the TAT.
  3. Vessel TAT are dependent on various Factors like the productivity, resource allocated, Tide etc.
  4. The solution should be such that the Port Authorities are able to effectively predict the Optimum TAT which yields maximum revenue by clearly optimizing the resources used.
    Relooking at the problem:
  5. Can out Current Terminal Operating system (TOS) predict using the available data points?
  6. Do we require an analytical engine to run algorithms?
  7. Will Live Dashboard help to control & monitor the Vessel Operation?
  8. Say our current prediction is 70% accurate we would definitely want to increase the prediction accuracy by 10%.
  9. Can ML be implemented such that the same vessel calling at our port month after month the prediction is actually very accurate?
  10. All vessel related information, resources & Tariff for maximum revenue will be provided. Connections to our DB and Data warehouse access are possible. If we look at the entire process:
  11. Vessel agent submits the ETA
  12. Port Authority does the berth and resource planning.
  13. Operations are undertaken.
  14. Changes in Planned TAT.
  15. Revision in TAT
  16. Other Vessels incoming are affected by such changes in TAT.
  17. New TAT Prediction for other incoming vessels.

32. Seamless Invoicing and Reconciliation System

  1. At present, Adani raise more than 10,000+ invoices annually.
  • Tracking outstanding of each invoices with respect to each customers is very difficult.
  • Our marketing team should focus only on bringing customers. An automated transaction system which acts independently for invoicing and payments reconciliation.
  • A wallet for customer which can be accessed through a portal. Payments can be made offline through banks or pay using UPIs/Internet Banking/NEFTs/RTGS Relooking at the problem:
  • Invoices are generated in our Terminal Operating System (TOS).
  • Customer should be able to view the invoices on a portal.
  • They can clear the invoices either partially or full.
  • They might make an Ad-hoc payment (advance payment) which should be available in wallet and then uses that amount to settle the invoices.
  • Dashboard – Current Outstanding, payment dues, invoices pending to be cleared, interest loss etc. If we look at the entire process:
  • Vessel agent submits the ETA
  • Port Authority does the berth and resource planning.
  • Operations are undertaken.
  • Invoices for services are raised
  • Sent to customer for payments
  • Customer makes the payment
  • Payment advise(s) are shared
  • Corresponding invoices are cleared in our SAP system.
  • Can we relook the Invoice settlement process? • Is it possible for our Customer to settle the invoices in our system? Let’s say we create an instance of out TOS for customers to come and do the payment settlements.

  • How to reduce the Payments to invoice settlement TAT? • Customer makes the payment and realizing that amount paid in our Finance Statement takes additional day or two. Can it be made real time.

  • 33. Renewable Energy forecasting, for an integrated smart grid

BACKGROUND: Advances in technology have enabled large-scale harnessing of sources of renewable energy (solar, wind etc.). Smart grids which integrate both conventional energy sources and renewable sources are envisioned to be a sustainable power generation solution. However, all sources of renewable energy are affected by environmental factors (such as wind speed, intensity of solar radiation, cloud cover) which causes fluctuations in power generated from these sources. Also, the availability are subjected to daily/annual cycles (eg. Solar energy available during daytime only). While smart metering enables real-time demand forecasting; accurate models that forecast power generated by renewable energy sources are also needed. Accurate forecasting models will ensure grid stability, smooth scheduling and energy management. For instance, if the model forecasts renewable energy outage for a certain duration of time, the smart grid must seamlessly switch to the conventional energy source for that duration and ensure that the generated power meets the demand forecast. Literature proposes various learning-based forecasting models for renewable energy sources based on open data sources; as well as scheduling strategies for demand-supply matching. Further, simulation software to realistically model microgrids are also available. The problem defined here is to come up with a framework which: realistically simulates a microgrid; forecasts demand and supply of (renewable) energy; seamlessly schedules supply of renewable (and conventional energy) to meet the demand; and provides actionable insights about the functioning of the smart grid system.

PROBLEM STATEMENT: 1. Simulate the microgrid/utility system with various consumers and prosumers. 2. For the renewable energy sources, using environment time series data from open data forums-develop energy generation forecasting models. 3. For the consumers/prosumers using energy consumption time series data from open data forums-develop energy demand forecasting models. 4. Develop scheduling algorithms for the utility/microgrid controller. 5. Integrate the forecasting model and scheduler with the simulation setup in 1. 6. Prototype the following use case with developed models: An Integrated Smart Grid utility manager would want to remotely monitor the operations of the deployed system in real-time. The manager will require a dashboard that provides a micro- and macroscopic spatio-temporal trend of: (a) consumer demand maps; (b) prosumer supply; (c) solar/wind energy generated; (d) conventional energy generated; (e) outages; (f) accuracies of forecasting models for energy demand and energy generated (conventional and renewable); (g) scheduling decision report.

OUTCOME EXPECTED: 1. A microgrid simulation model (with scheduling strategy integrated at controller). 2. Forecasting models to predict demand, renewable energy generated. (possibly Statistical/Machine Learning models). 3. Scheduling strategy/algorithm to manage resources to meet demands. (optimization algorithm based on forecasting model of demand and generation). 4. A web-application of the dashboard with appropriate visualizations and reports.

    35. Data Mining Robot using AI / ML

Back Ground: A corporate action is an event initiated by a public company that will bring an actual change to the securities—equity or debt—issued by the company. Corporate actions are typically agreed upon by a company’s board of directors and authorized by the shareholders. Examples of corporate actions include stock splits, dividends, mergers and acquisitions, rights issues, and spin-offs. Corporate action instantly impacts security valuation and hence its timely and accurate information is very critical to financial institutes and investors. Information on current, upcoming, and historical corporate action can be purchased from various data vendors like Bloomberg, ICE Data Service, Refinitiv, MarketMap, etc. which could be expensive. Alternatively, data could be freely retrieved from public webpages and company portal. Challenge with free data approach is its accuracy, reliability and completeness

Problem Statement: Goal of corporate action (CA) robot is to retrieve accurate, and complete information on historical, current, and future expected corporate action in timely manner from free sources. Required features: 1. Capability of crawling public web pages to retrieve information related to historical, current, and future expected corporate action. Data could potentially be available directly on webpage or in form of downloadable file (.pdf, .docx) 2. Ability of process information available in free text format like pdf, and MS word document 3. Intelligently identify context in which data is available, like is it listed as example, or is it a real announced corporate action. We should also be able to classify CA as approved or yet to be approved corporate action. 4. Extract important information from retrieved pages/files on corporate action like – Security Identifier type (ISIN, CUSIP, Ticker, etc.), Identifier Value, corporate action type, Ex. Date, record date, pay date, payment / ratio / other key information, other relevant corporate action details etc. Example: ISIN: INE239A01016 Company: Nestle India Type of CA: Interim dividend Amount: Rs. 55 Ex Date: 11/12/2019 Rec Date: 12/12/2019 Pay Date: 02/01/2020

    1. Build accurate, and complete data from conflicting data retrieved from multiple sources. It should continuously learn about sources which could be trusted for specific information
    2. Ability to configure to look for CA on a set of securities, to all listed securities on specific exchange.
    3. Robot could be configured to continuously look for new data available for relevant corporate action.

    36. Jarvis (software robot assistant) for corporations

Background: Today organizations have multiple tools and systems to help assist them in their day to day software development activities. There is need of a system which can connect to applications, mine & analyze data and provide results to stakeholders whenever they need it.

    Problem Statement:
For example, questions to assist development activities could be: What is the status of the release of Project X that was due this Friday? Why was Feature Y not fulfilled in the last release for Project X? How many test cases failed in the last release of Project X? Send me an email with the last release notes for Project X How to install Project X? How was Feature Z implemented? (Note: the robot would need to connect to all the applications, and dig out all the relevant information (description of features and linked commits / comments /guides) related the Feature Z Help me solve the class not found exception against “ClassName” (Note: this would mean running a query on stack overflow)

Create an AI/ML based application to be hosted within a corporate/organization intranet with complete access to corporate/organization resources of JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket and Stack Overflow. The primary responsibility of this software robot (Intelligent Product Master - IPM) is to learn-mine-analyze-serve information about a product to optimize development and support processes in a product team.

IPM’s input interfaces would be a mic and email to receive input from users. IPM’s output interfaces would be speaker and email to revert to users.

Following are the two main use cases (but not limited to) 1. Anyone can ask/look up for any information to IPM. It responds with accurate answer by voice-to-text-conversion/email. Mining existing data (could use APIs of the information hosting applications). Co-relating multiple information, analyzes and respond text-to-voice/email. 2. Take the Speaker in a meeting (example: scrum ceremonies/meetings). It records the meeting MOM in detail in its own data-reservoir (database). The scrum master can also instruct IPM to do multiple activity during the meeting. Say: Create a jira task, pull out the last updated jira task. Send me the last email from XYZ to me etc.

To implement this, you can use a computer/speak/mail server and client, Voice-text-voice converter, text to jira / confluence / bitbucket / Stack Overflow APIs, AI to Analyze data to get accurate information, ML to learn when taken in a meeting. The key challenges in the problem would be to architect an information store that is optimally designed to answer queries, and accurately answer questions posed to it. For voice to text, and text to voice, you may use standard (free) libraries/services available in the market.

    2. Some of Authentication mechanisms are PIN, facial recognition, fingerprint etc.
    3. But every mechanism has drawbacks like data storage and securing the users data from hackers is additional and difficult task.
    4. There is need for solution which can ensure 100% secure.
    5. The solution should be such that user need to authenticate a transaction in a very secure environment.

Scenario 1: 1. A under display camera touchpad screen should be replaced by existing number keypad. 2. When user is prompted for PIN, user can hover his fingers on screen to enter PIN. 3. For example, if user hovers 2 fingers than software will detect the digit as 2 using Machine Learning algorithms. 4. Similarly, user can enter all the digits and can completed the transaction 5. In order secure user interaction, a small chamber is required at ATM where user can place his hands and enters his PIN. Scenario 2: 1. A under display camera touchpad screen should be replaced by existing number keypad. 2. When user is prompted for PIN, user can swipe his fingers on screen to enter PIN. 3. For example, if user swipes 2 fingers than software will detect the digit as 2 using Machine Learning algorithms. 4. Similarly, user can enter all the digits and can completed the transaction. 5. In order secure user interaction, a small chamber is required at ATM where user can place his hands and enters his PIN.

Is it required to change the existing process? 1. Transaction can be done like existing process. No process needs to be changed except the way user is authenticated. Does new solution require Bluetooth connectivity: No Sample Data Required: No Any new hardware required: Yes

Search and Rescue (SAR) is an operation to find and rescue the people in distress. SAR operations aim at finding missing objects with minimum time in a determined area. There are fundamentally two problems in these operations. The first problem is assessing highly reliable probability distribution maps, and the second is determining the search pattern that sweeps the area from the air as fast as possible. SAR operations benefit greatly from the GIS technology. The area, determined by the search planner, that is to be searched is called Search Area. This area may be sub-divided into search sub-areas for the purpose of assigning specific responsibilities to the available search facilities. The International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue Manual (IAMSAR) Vol. II (ICAO DOC 9731) provides all necessary information and guidance. Projecs intends to achive: • Determining the size of the search area from the Last Known Position (LKP), including speed, heading and attitude, of aircraft. • Determining the desired area coverage
    • Selecting appropriate search patterns.

    78. Fiducial localization for pre-operative planning in neurosurgery

Preoperative planning is a phase before actual surgery procedure in which the surgeon can take all the time needed to define the surgical problem, to identify fully all the anatomical and technical aspects of the procedure, and then carefully plan the solution. In order to facilitate this, the patient is assumed to be located in a coordinate system refered to as the ‘Patient Coordinate System’(PCS), whereas the surgeon has access to pre-operative medical scans(like CT/MRI etc.) of the subject in the coordinate system refered to as the ‘Image Coordinate System’(ICS). Any procedure planned in medical scans under ICS can be transfered to patient domain by utilizing this mapping. The challenge of accurately establishing this mapping (or registration) between PCS and ICS plays a critical role in influencing the reliability of the surgery procedure itself. Currently accepted practice involves the use of special markers called the ‘fiducials’ for the purpose of estimating PCS-to-ICS mapping. Apart from establishing correspondances between the appearance of fiducials in both patient and image coordinate systems, autonomas and accurate localization of these markers in image coordinate system is an open-challenge. Currently, surgeons manually annotate and localize these fiducials or utilize semi-automatic tools provided by their treatment planning suite. The goal of this challenge is therefore, to develop fully autonomas algorithm for detection and localization of fiducials in pre-operative scans. Concretely, the participants will be provided with MRI head-scans with fiducials affixed on the skull surface and the task will be to estimate 3D coordinates of the center of these fiducials with respect to the image coordinate system. Accruacy of their algorithm will be tested on the corresponding ground-truth values and generalization will be evaluated based on unseen test data.

    79. Network routing protocol for infrastructure less gateway devices in man-made emergency situations.

In case of man-made emergency situations which disrupt public life on greater scale e.g. war, tested solutions for rapid communications among large numbers of devices is required for relief efforts as well as monitoring of environment. A Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET) protocol based on device geographical location information is conceptualized to serve as a gate way device. Problem is coding, simulation and testing of scalability. A network routing protocol is scalable in terms of number of nodes when it can accommodate additional nodes without increase of overhead for given limited area. The conceptualized MANET protocol shall establish the source to destination path similar to zone routing protocols (ZRP). The path to destination is referred at source, in terms of the geological zones therefore allowing movement of intermediate mobile devices across path without disturbing the path. The devices get assigned new zone automatically using the GPS. The simulation scenario shall be source node in searching a path to friendly destination device, exchange data (hello) and drop the link. The devices follow random mobility pattern in 2 D frame. For searching of devices there is pre condition of knowing past history or pattern or set of fixed zones where destination node can reside. This is close to real world scenario where destinations reside at known zones such as home, office, commutation route, friend’s place, entertainment hub in the area, railway station, airport etc. The MANET protocol, by nature of precondition, of knowing the possibility of location of devices; protects from spam connection and un authorized network broadcast. It is allowed to modify the protocol to certain level to improve security, privacy without diluting the basic principal. The simulation is required to test the claim of scalability level in terms of N devices in simulation. A set of software codes will be required to be developed for simulation of the routing protocol. The simulation can be done using open source network simulator. It is required to test and simulate the concept of this routing protocol and its scalability. The metric of scalability will be success in search, establishment and dropping the links between pairs of devices and amount of information shared when not having links. The largest possible MANET size is required to be in order of 1000s. All MANET devices shall be interchangeable and there will not be any infrastructure dedicated node. All devices shall be replaceable without affecting MANET performance. Fixed location nodes can be used. An example application can be MANET for police cars or disaster relief providers to enable connectivity in them without having to connect to any public network.

This technology is beneficial to everyday citizens because it allows one to accurately navigate to a specific location in a building they have never been to before, such as government offices,a classroom in a campus, malls/retail store to show customers the items they would want to purchase etc.

    110. Design State Research Portal, a single point securely hosted solution to seamlessly integrate search and manage all the research activities

The act of research sets the course for the development of any product or service. Without comprehensive research, all stages that follow in research activities could be greatly affected. Finding the required information for research can be difficult as the resources and information on internet and otherwise are often located in dispersed places, and accessing the right content can be time consuming.

In this context, a single State research portal is needed to be designed in a manner that it can serve as a one-stop research portal for all the State Universities and colleges comprising the essential areas/parameters. Few of the areas to be incorporated are as given below: a. Navigating to information: It should be built on user experience best practices. As researchers are used to accessing websites (whether in their personal or professional lives) that respond to their screen size and are optimized for mobile, but also contain ideal user experience elements to make it easy to navigate (think single search bar front and center, clear organization of content etc.). b. Uploading research, discovery of and access to information: It should be a user-friendly research portal wherein the researchers can search and discover the right information and content for their work. They also be able to upload their research work university/college/miscellaneous wise which may further be categorized department/areas of study wise.

A discovery service is the next tool to consider integrating into research portal. Consider how metadata is used, the methodology around searching and retrieving search results, how the tool anticipates users’ needs, and what can be integrated into the discovery tool.

    1. Authentication: As research and collection of information resources become increasingly digital, authentication will be a key component to ensure the security of users and their content. For example, your collection may offer users access to various publisher or research platforms/portals that all have varying requirements for authentication. Entry into these resources is expected to be seamless and intuitive by researchers.

    132. APPCB looks forward to bringing in all polluting industries in the state to enhance the existing system more transparent and effective monitoring of emissions and effluents. APPCB envisages implementing Internet of Things (loT) technology for obtaining of authentic and reliable data directly from the analyzers installed at the industry rather than the data from the intermediary system.

Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) is a statutory organization entrusted to implement Environmental Laws and control pollution in the state of Andhra Pradesh through regulations.

APPCB is presently using cloud-based software to connect all the analyzers installed at the industries to obtain real time data. The data received is analyzed to monitor the exceedances against the prescribed standards for each industry. APPCB looks forward to bringing in all polluting industries in the state to enhance the existing system more transparent and effective monitoring of emissions and effluents.

As an extensively modernizing state, Andhra Pradesh is developing its industrial sector vigorously. Industries being significant source of both emission and effluents, are required to be monitored stringent monitoring.

APPCB uses monitoring tools namely Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) and Continuous Effluent Quality Monitoring System (CEQMS) to check release of polluting emission and effluent to the environment. CEMS and CEQMS comprises analytical components and are continuous real time tools, providing monitoring data every minute.

Although there is a system of real time monitoring of polluting emissions and effluents from industries, APPCB is trying to develop a more efficient system that can provide authentic Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) and Continuous Effluent Quality Monitoring System (CEQMS). CEMS and CEQMS are calibrated in such a way that it collates data from different types of industries falling under different make and model as well as pollution category. Since each industrial sector under each pollution category may have set emission and effluent standards as prescribed by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) or standardized by APPCB as per the local environmental conditions, ensuring reliability and consistency of the data received through CEMS and CEQMS are important.

Other areas of improvement for implementation of CEMS/CEQMS are as follows: Ensuring quality assurance of equipment and suitable technology, most reliable method of installation of analyzers, effectual reliable operation, ensuring credible data, viable data transfer calibration and maintenance of the equipment etc.

Additionally, enhancement of the existing online monitoring system is also required for development of an unswerving emission and effluent database for the state of Andhra Pradesh. Above mentioned are the need of the hour for Andhra Pradesh state as 13 town/cities in the state are already listed in the list of Non-Attainment cities w.r.t air pollution and five river stretches are categorized as polluted. It is crucial for APPCB as the key regulatory agency for pollution in the state.

Current System using in detailed: Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board uses cloud-based software to connect all the analyzers installed at the industries to obtain real time data. The data received is analyzed to monitor the exceedances against the prescribed standards for each industry. APPCB looks forward to bringing in all polluting industry categories existing in the state to be adequately monitored to check pollution in the long run.

Significant indicators taken into consideration under CEMS are the emission and effluent quality standard limits as prescribed by the Board based on the industry type, category, local conditions and the characteristics of the emission and effluents by the industry.

APPCB envisages implementing Internet of Things (loT) technology for obtaining of authentic and reliable data directly from the analyzers installed at the industry rather than the data from the intermediary system.
