Mark Ruffalo’s opened up about the possibility of a Hulk solo movie, and it looks like he isn’t opposed to the idea of having one.

After two failed attempts at Hulks and one Lou Ferrigno, Mark Ruffalo has solidly made himself the Incredible Hulk of today’s pop culture. He entered the MCU in 2012 with The Avengers and has been a staple part of the franchise ever since.

Except, though, Ruffalo’s Hulk has never had his own solo movie. Granted, The Incredible Hulk with Ed Norton is technically part of the MCU canon. But for many reasons, the now decade-plus-old film has largely been left out of the MCU conversation. Now, Ruffalo is speaking out about the possibility of getting a solo Hulk movie of his own, and of course, it seems like he’s all for the idea.

Ruffalo spoke to Variety about the possibility in a feature story, and Variety notes that Ruffalo has played the role in five different Marvel movies — just none of them being his own.

In response to an inquiry about a potential new Hulk movie, Ruffalo said the following: “There’s an idea that I think could be really interesting. We’ve never really followed him into his life. He’s always kind of off on the side. He’s like the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of the Avengers. It’d be interesting to fill in all the blanks about what happened to him in between all these movies.”

In the same fashion as Black Widow, it’s not like a fan-favorite character can’t get a solo movie eventually. The Hulk was one of the characters lucky enough to survive Endgame — but even still, like with Black Widow or Captain Marvel, a flashback film is not completely off the table either. There are tons of ways to tell a Hulk story with him being the main lead, and fans will probably agree that Ruffalo deserves a shot at his own solo movie, too.

Overall, Variety noted that Ruffalo’s unsure about his involvement in any future Marvel productions but did confirm that there have been talks about him appearing in the She-Hulk Disney+ series. So far, no major announcements have been made regarding the series. But in the comics, Bruce Banner is the cousin of Jennifer Walters, and she becomes She-Hulk after receiving a blood transfusion from him. As of now, no one has been cast as the lead in She-Hulk.

One thing that is for certain is that Ruffalo is still around outside of the MCU, and he’ll be starring in and producing I Know This Much Is True, which heads to HBO May 10.
