What travelers are saying
- Bogdan B1 contributionIt is amazing what a small step to the left can do... By walking down Lipscani Str in Bucharest we found this beautiful place where you can live your grandparents life. It is a time travel to the age of the bohemia, the prosperity and the good taste of what they used to call as The Little Paris. It worth every moment!Written April 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- FoodangeManchester, UK2,891 contributionsConfusing ticketing, think we bought for 3 different museums but decided to give Decorative Arts a miss.
The Romanian Gallery was interesting, with some great individual pieces but the European Art Gallery was largely a disappointment, with few standouts.
By chance there were loads of paintings of places we’d visited in France.Written April 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. In the interior are columns and vaults, There are three large halls on the second floor that are exhibition open. Pensioners are free entrance.Written May 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Aygen Y1 contributionI am in love with this art gallery. I think it's the best gallery in the Romania. But too expensive for me ( the students:)) )Written February 11, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- jeff cLiverpool, UK122 contributionsThis museum/gallery was recommended to us by the tour guide from a walking tour we took. It took us a while to find the entrance, but when we eventually did, we made our way onto the top floor and had a coffee on the terrace overlooking the construction site of the new ‘People’s Salvation’ Orthodox Cathedral, such a great view from here!
We really enjoyed the exhibitions, they range from painting and sculpture, to video installations and large-scale pieces recreating the buildings destroyed by Ceausescu in order to construct The Palace Of The Parliament. I’d be lying if I said I liked all the exhibits, but there was enough interesting stuff to make the visit worthwhile.Written March 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - fuscobalBucharest, Romania257 contributionsA very nice numismatic collection that is also very well explained on phisical panels as well as on digital tablets. Entry is a bargain @ 10RON (2Eur). - Andrei SBucharest, Romania932 contributionsMe and my family came here on the Night of the Museum. The artworks are superb, especially the sculptures (i am not a big fan of the paintings inside here but art is subjective). It's bad that the place, not being well looked after, gives you a little coldness. With proper work and some renovation, this could be a great attraction.Written May 18, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - globetrotter55Bucharest, Romania2,950 contributionsthe house is an touristic objective by itself, being the oldest functional house in Bucharest (people say) and located in the former Armenian neighborhood, in a central area, but on a quiet street; the house has a name, Casa Melik
the architecture is interesting, it's worth to rest for a while in the garden, to see the house from the middle of the vegetation, guarded by the painter (statue)
the museum is a cosy and nice one, and it offers some nudes of Pallady, to the lower level, and the art collection of a local worthy family, to the upper level
the art collection includes painting, sculptures, old stylish furniture
there is a very nice part of the house, dedicated to the youngest painters that could come here to practice
the cost of the visit is two euros, there is a brochure but only in Romanian...only cash, no cards...Written June 29, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. MARe offers a splendid, but balanced and carefully curated permanent collection from Romanian artists from communist and post-communist times. I think it is definitely worth to visit it if you are particularly interested in works from this period of time.Written August 19, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - globetrotter55Bucharest, Romania2,950 contributionsthe first thought was this museum is a sort of franchise, after l"Atelier des Lumières, but the guys said they are not; of course; after I saw Van Gogh in Paris, the next scheduled show was Klimt, but it's only a coincidence
the immersive experience is interesting, anyway; it worth to see Klimt show; the water life....was so and so, for sure could be more interesting
waiting for the next shows, of course, it's an ongoing activity
a pros is the special selfie you could take, using the museum's device; good ideaWritten December 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Simona I1 contributionEven though this concept & this gallery itself is quite a novelty on the artistic scene of Bucharest, Future Museum proved to be successful from its first exhibition. Located in the Czech Centre Bucharest, the hall where the exhibitions are displayed has a long history of being used as a projection hall or party-place which helped this place become one of the most popular cultural centres in Bucharest. I visited one of the most recent exhibitions, namely Ovidiu Anton's "Home is where my problems are" and I can honestly say that I was amazed by the number of people attending the opening gala, the exquisite quality of the artworks and the ingenious way in which the works were installed.
I definitely recommend this place to anybody wanting to spend a few hours in a place stripped of formalities, but full of ideas and concepts which can be considered unexplored on the art scene of Bucharest.Written June 30, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KoKo68 contributionsPOSITIVES:
Good exhibition with different types of art.
Particularly liked the handbags section. Lots of 'it' bags such as the Lady Dior, Hermes Kelly, Fendi baguette, and an interesting one in the shape of a woman bust from Issey Miyake called the Spiral (see photo).
There's also a very large tree made out of lots of different types of materials.
NEGATIVES:
I didn't like the fact that a company that sells 'sticks' for adults which you light up was allowed to advertise inside the art gallery.
They even had some on display and asked me if I smoke, presumably to offer me some.
What if I was with my children?
It is wrong on so many levels!
And so backwards! We're not in the 70s when this 'activity' is cool or considered healthy.Written November 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
