    In my opinion, the "Muzeul Satului" is the most beautiful open-air museum I've ever seen. I understood better how people lived in the village 100-200 years ago

    The host was excellent, and the exhibits were very interesting, representinf the French and Ottoman influence on the aesthetics of interwar Romania.

    My friend and I really enjoyed walking around this museum on a day in Bucharest when we had some time to kill. Because we received a student discount, we felt like we received good value for our payment. We might not have felt that way if we had paid full price for our tickets though. If you don’t have a ton of time to spend in Bucharest, you should probably pass on visiting this museum. But, if you’re looking for something to do to fill in some of your time, you’ll probably enjoy spending an hour or so here.

    An interesting museum with some strange practises and a massive gap in the story.
    We had to pay an extra charge to take photos, so that was a first!
    No signposting and by chance we went what we thought was the right way round, anticlockwise at the top of the stairs turn right though most people seemed to go the other way.
    This takes you chronologically, not sure what’s the point starting at the present day, especially as there’s rather a lot missing from recent history ….
    It was very dark, difficult to read things at times.
    Fabulous on story of Bucharest and how everything good and bad in Romania and with communism itself was amplified in the capital.
    Great detail right up to 1989, then through an empty room to the post communism era with just two boards, as though they ran out of impetus.
    Oh and by the way, didn't you summarily execute Ceaușescu after a sham trial?!
    Still fascinating on history of in and out with communism.

    Classical music is two things in Romania: popular and synonymous with George Enescu. Born in the small village of Liveni, Enescu was a child prodigy and admitted to study at age seven (!) to the Vienna Conservatory. He gave a private concert for Emperor Franz Joseph at age ten, and shuttled between Paris and Romania until the end of WW2, when he settled in the former. His compositions include operas, symphonies, chamber music, and works written exclusively for piano. A museum dedicated to his work is located in the turn-of-the-century art nouveau Cantacuzino Palace. It is small (two rooms) but contains a number of personal artifacts and tells the story of his life in roughly chronological order. His first violin, hand-written manuscripts, and various concert programs share space with medals presented from around the world and, somewhat oddly, a molding of his hands. I spent just under an hour here on my last day in Bucharest.

    In summary, this was a small, traditional museum about a very important historical figure. I had only peripherally heard of Enescu before traveling to Romania but learned far more from him while there, largely due to this collection. A groundbreaking gallery with electronic exhibits and walk-through experiences? Hardly. A decent, easy to understand collection of authentic artifacts that tells a linear story and leaves one realizing how impressive this musician was? Yes. I’d give it 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. Worth a trip for people with the interest.

    The Synagogue turned museum was a bit tricky to find, but worth it. The guard and custodians were very nice and welcoming. There are a plethora of historical photos and religious items to look at. Keep in mind that the museum consists of two floors, the upper floor being what used to be the women's balcony. The architecture and artwork of the synagogue itself were very nice to look at.

    A very nice numismatic collection that is also very well explained on phisical panels as well as on digital tablets. Entry is a bargain @ 10RON (2Eur). Recommended visit duration > ~30 mins

    Downtown museum, set in the small but lovely Suțu palace; it boasts various art collections, like the one in the former Simu museum and a beautiful nudes display by Theodor Pallady; Bucharest history is also depicted on the first floor; don’t miss the building itself with its ceilings and the grand staircase;

    An interesting museum housed in an old mansion near Victoriei Square. Nice,recently restored. The current exhibition is titled "The Museum of Ages" and tries to present to the visitor 300 years of family and childhood history. You can see household items, pieces of clothing, weapons, furniture, all belonging to long gone time
