    Well not that method....

    It's possible there is another combination that would duplicate the screen taps with the keyboard. But as all this was accidental and trial and error.... good luck OP.

    Doesn't the Classic have a track pad?

    OP can just use that to move the cursor around and click down on the pad to select.
