The actors who appeared in MCU's Avengers films went through incredible body transformations for their roles. They demonstrated more than just good acting skills and did justice to their respective characters. Their roles demanded they follow fitness and diet rules with discipline. Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, amongst others, followed a gruesome training regimen to achieve the superhero physique.

That being said, everyone knows the role CGI plays in creating superheroes. Against such a backdrop, it's quite obvious to wonder how actors look in real life. Makes one think if the actors are really as tall as they appear onscreen.

13 Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow)

It is pertinent to mention that the actress wasn't the first choice for the character. The role was passed on to her after Emily Blunt dropped out due to scheduling concerns. Scarlett Johansson stands at 5'4" (1.60 m), making her the shortest of actors on the team.

12 Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch)

Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch is one of the important characters in the MCU. She made her first appearance in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. With Scarlet Witch's incredible skill set, she emerged as a major power player in Avengers: Infinity War. Her powers are limitless and if they were to be unlocked, she'd very well become the most powerful Avenger.

11 Tom Holland (Spider-Man)

Tom Holland, the 24-year-old British actor who plays the most beloved superhero of all time, Spider-Man. Holland is 5'6" (1.68 m), however, in the comics, Spider-Man has a height of 5'10” (1.78 m).

The Oscar-winning actress, Brie Larson plays the pilot-turned-superhero, Captain Marvel. The actress successfully led 2019's Captain Marvel - MCU's first female-led solo film. Brie Larson has had a successful career with the franchise. Captain Marvel grossed over $1 billion dollars at the box-office in 2019, thereby smashing records and winning hearts.

At 5'7" (1.7 m), Brie Larson is pretty damn tall to play a character who was a former U.S. military pilot.

9 Don Cheadle (War Machine)

The 55-year-old actor, Don Cheadle is ‎5' 7¾" (1.72 m) and is known for his character James Rhodes/War Machine. The actor made his first appearance in Iron Man 2, replacing the former War Machine, Terrence Howard from 2008's Iron Man. Terrence Howard is taller than Don Cheadle standing at 6" (1.84 m).

James "Rhodey" Rhodes is close friends with Tony Stark (Iron Man) and a distinguished officer with the United States Air Force.

8 Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk)

He has played complex roles like an AIDS activist in The Normal Heart, a sperm donor in The Kids Are All Right, and an investigative journalist in 2015's Oscar-winning film, Spotlight.

Mark Ruffalo debuted as the Muscular humanoid in The Avengers. He replaced Edward Norton, the man who originally played the Hulk in MCU's The Incredible Hulk (2008).

7 Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye)

Jeremy Renner played the archery ace, Clint Barton aka Hawkeye in MCU. The actor debuted as Hawkeye in an uncredited cameo in Thor. He reprised his role in 2012's Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), and Captain America: Civil War (2016).

Jeremy Renner was last seen in Avengers: Endgame. The Oscar-nominated actor isn't the tallest on the team, he only 5'9" (1.75 m). Nonetheless, his fantastic portrayal combined with MCU's take on his character slowly made him a fan-favorite.

6 Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man)

In 2019, Robert Downey Jr. bid goodbye to the role of a lifetime, Tony Stark/Iron Man with Avengers: Endgame. He is known as the godfather of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one who led the pack and held them together.

It was Tony Stark who started the 11-year saga in 2008's Iron Man. He proved that the greatest character doesn't always have to be the tallest, Robert Downey Jr. is only 5'9" (1.74 m) tall.

5 Anthony Mackie (The Falcon)

Anthony Mackie is slightly taller than Robert Downey Jr., as tall as 5'10" (1.78m). The actor is known for playing Sam Wilson/The Falcon in the MCU. The actor made his first appearance in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The high-flying hero reprised his role in several MCU movies such as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

While Anthony Mackie may be taller than the godfather of MCU, he's certainly not the tallest actor on board.

4 Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange)

There could not have been a better actor than Benedict Cumberbatch to play the Sorcerer Supreme aka Doctor Strange. His character is an arrogant neurosurgeon who goes through an emotionally challenging journey.

Doctor Strange is a man of high education, intelligence. Anyone who has followed Benedict Cumberbatch's works knows he's best known for playing characters with pretty much the same traits. He's one of the tallest in the pack, 6'0" (1.83 m) in height.

3 Chris Evans (Captain America)

Chris Evans' all-American good looks and charm aided in bringing his character to life. His charisma as MCU's superhero, Captain America is as great as Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man. He, however, is taller than the godfather of MCU, standing at 6'0" (1.83 m).

2 Chris Hemsworth (Thor)

The Australian actor, Chris Hemsworth became a household name soon after he joined the MCU. His character, Thor wields one of the most powerful weapons - the enchanted Uru hammer, Mjolnir. He is the son of Odin Borson and the God of thunder and lightning. Thor uses his powers to protect his home Asgard and Earth.

Chris Hemsworth's height is 6'3'' (1.9 m), making him the second-tallest actor out of all.

1 Paul Bettany (Vision)

Standing at a towering height of 6'3" (1.91 m) is the actor, Paul Bettany. He played Vision, an android who possessed a synthetic body made from vibranium created by Ultron in order to defeat the Avengers.

Paul Bettany made his last appearance as Vision in Avengers: Infinity War. His character arc ended twice in the film. First at the hands of Scarlet Witch, followed by Thanos. The mad titan, Thanos used the Time Stone to resurrect Vision. He then ripped the Mind Stone off his forehead, thereby crushing him dead.
