John King Williams Sr., 89, of Spartanburg, S.C., died on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born on January 23, 1933, in Spartanburg, S.C., he was the son of the late John Lafayette and Leila King Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Diggs Williams; his son, John King Williams Jr. (Jill) of Greer, S.C.; three grandchildren, Jackson Williams, Jarrett Williams; and Caroline Williams; special niece, Rebecca Diggs Barnes (Bobby) of Huntsville, Ala., along with several other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and six sisters.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Leila King Williams and John Lafayette Williams Scholarship Fund c/o Wofford College, 429 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or to Central United Methodist Church.
