Ronnie Aaron Killings was born to his parents on 19^th January 1972 in South Carolina, USA. His parents later moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where R Truth grew up. While in school, Truth was not only good in football but was also a good track runner. He joined Harding University High School, where he joined their football team together with Ray Durham. His talent in sports saw him getting several scholarships, which he declined to pursue his career, which he believed was in music. At the age of 18, he graduated from high school and started pursuing his music career.

After his release from prison, Jack Crockett of NWA met Truth in an effort to convince him to become a wrestler; something Truth wasn’t willing to consider as he was determined to continue with his music career. After two tears, he would later consider the offer and contacted Jack, who introduced him to wrestling personalities. In 1997, he made his debut as a manager in Pro Wrestling Federation. In 1999 he made his debut as a wrestler going with K-Krush as his ringside name were in December 1999 he clinched his first title as a wrestler.

After sending a promotion videotape to World Wrestling Federation, he was signed on a two-year development contract where he took K-Kwik as his ring name. He went on to wrestle. He went on to wrestle renowned wrestlers like Jerry Lawler, Joe Abs, and Steve Bradley, among others, before he was promoted to WWF main roster. In 2002 he left WWF and signed for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling in Nashville, Tennessee, where he stayed for six years before being resigned by World Wrestling Entertainment in 2008.
