The modern-day retelling will see The Mountain Between Us actor also produce original new music for the project, merging his talents as a DJ with his directorial expertise showcased in Yardie, which was premiered at Sundance.
Idris was spotted attending the Royal Wedding with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with his real-life Esmeralda and fiancée Sabrina Dhowre.

Who is Idris Elba?
Born Idrissa Akuna Elba on September 6, 1972, in Hackney, London, he was the only child of Winston Elba, a Sierra Leonean man who worked at Ford and Eve Elba, a Ghanaian woman.
After getting involved in acting at school, he also started helping his uncle with his wedding DJ business before starting his own company with friends.
Thanks to a £1,500 Prince’s Trust grant, Idris won a place at the National Youth Music Theatre and went on to appear in small roles in shows like Crimewatch.

After starring on Law & Order, he went on to star in what is considered his breakthrough role on The Wire, where he portrayed Russell ‘Stringer’ Bell.

In the same year, Idris Elba signed a deal to star in the six-part BBC drama Luther, for which he won the Best Actor Golden Globe.
