Streptomycin Oral Solution
This treatment applies to the following species:25% Streptomycin Sulfate Oral Veterinary Solution
Each ml contains 250 mg. streptomycin (as sulfate).
STREPTOMYCIN ORAL SOLUTION is indicated as an aid in the treatment of certain enteric diseases in which streptomycin-sensitive coliform bacteria (Escherichia, Salmonella, Vibrio, etc.) are implicated as either the cause or important complicating agents. STREPTOMYCIN ORAL SOLUTION is designed to be added to the drinking water.
Since it is already in solution, administration of STREPTOMYCIN ORAL SOLUTION is simple and rapid and can be used easily in standard automatic water proportioners.
RESIDUE WARNINGS:
Do not administer to chickens producing eggs for human consumption. Do not administer to chickens within 4 days of slaughter. Do not administer to calves within 2 days of slaughter. |
Certain strains of bacteria may develop a tolerance for streptomycin. If favorable results are not obtained in 3 to 5 days, diagnosis should be re-determined.
Consult a veterinarian or poultry pathologist for diagnosis.
Streptomycin Oral Solution Caution
Animals to be treated must actually be drinking enough water to provide the recommended level streptomycin (10-15 mg streptomycin per lb. body weight. Dosage recommendations made below are based on normal water consumption.
Chickens = Normal water consumption = 100 chickens @ (2 lbs.) will consume 2 gallons of water per day.
Swine & Calves = Normal water consumption = 1 Swine @ (100 lbs.) will consume 1 gallon of water per day.
Normal water consumption = 1 Calf @ (100 lbs.) will consume 1 gallon of water per day.
