The stocking schedule is no longer being posted for 2 reasons: 1) too many people exploited the stockings and raped the resource as soon as the fish hit the water 2) The new trout supplier is from Nebraska and does not know when he will make it to his designated stops. I think he is located along the South Dakota border and if so we are talking a 12 hour+ drive one way. Frankly, I am in favor of not publishing the stocking schedule so that the fish have some time to disperse over the lake/pond/river and settle down.

Spent plenty of time there. Grew up in Heber Springs fishing the Little Red.

Didn't grow up there, but fished it frequently. They are sustaining some population there, so lots more rules now. They stock three tailraces within 15 miles of the house, and there is a year-round stream an hour away.

I agree with the stocking schedule stuff. Where did the fish come from in the past? I wonder how stressed the fish will be from such a long trip.

I believe the majority came from Arkasas in the past.

To answer your original question, it was nearly 100% rainbows that were stocked, but once in a while they would trade fish with another hatchery and OK would end up with a few browns. I'm not sure if they were ever stocked on the Blue, but I do know they were stocked on the LIR.

I'm not sure what the current situation is though. I wasn't even aware we were getting the fish from Nebraska now.

Like Porter said, most were from a nursery in Arkansas, and some from one in Missouri. I fish the Pawhuska lake on occasion, and in the past we also got some Golden trout. Never caucht one, but they were pretty easy to spot when they were cruising just under the surface.
