About
Durango Hot Springs Resort & Spa is located in the Animas Valley just north of downtown Durango Colorado and 15 minutes south of Purgatory Ski Resort. The natural hot springs have a rich history dating back a millennium to the Ancient Puebloan that lived in this region. Beginning in the 18th century, the native Ute Tribe and other Native American tribes utilized the healing waters they considered sacred. Over the years, the hot springs has been the location for multiple grand hotels and later as a dude ranch, gambling hall, and entertainment center that hosted celebrities and Hollywood stars in the 1950s. The one constant from the past to present is the natural hot mineral springs and its reputation as a mystical healing place and source of wellness. Much of this mystique comes from the rare characteristics of the hot springs water with its balanced blend of minerals. The remarkable natural water from the hot springs has no Sulphur odor and embraces your soul.

Fantastic Morning at Durango Hot Springs
While my hubby and older son were fly fishing, my younger son (age 11) and I had a great morning at the hot springs. It's clean, gorgeous and well worth the price of entry. Do not miss it!

    Treat yourself
This is a really special place. I can tell they've put a lot of effort into making this an amazing experience. I love that there are so many Adults Only spaces and plants everywhere. It would be nice if they kept the bathrooms a little cleaner. That was my only complaint.

    Family friendly!
Our 3 young boys had a lovely time at the Hot Springs. The family pool is large and shallow enough for our 3 year old to play. They do allow you to bring your own water bottle which is helpful. They do have a food truck and bar on site just in case. Definitely recommend!

    Loved it!
We went in July so definitely not the ideal time to soak in hot water, BUT having never been to a hot spring it was awesome! We utilized the family side of the resort as I had two teen girls with me and we had a wonderful time. They have a big pool for swimming and it's warm but around 95 degrees I believe. All the other smaller pools are different temps and are labeled so you know before going in what to expect. Staff was friendly, facility was well maintained. Great snack shack and bar drinks available.

    Wonderful!!
Have visited many of Colorado’s hot springs and we would rate Durango top 2! So many pools to choose from. Great variety of temperatures from 91° to 106° (and a 55° cold pool as well). Two sides, Family and Adults-Only so you can avoid the kids if you prefer. Grounds are beautiful and well kept with plenty of wildflowers to attract the hummingbirds. Food choices so-so, but we didn’t come here to dine. Would highly recommend!

Clean! We had a nice family visit in early October. It was expensive in my opinion.
We visited these hot springs on a Wednesday in the evening from about 6:30 to 8:30pm, on a whirlwind 2 day visit to Durango in early October 2023 for our wedding anniversary, with a 3.5 year old in tow. It was overall a good experience. The October weather was cool enough that the big pool, although heated, was still chilly for me and my husband. My toddler loved it, of course, so we had to alternate between comfortable warm water and the chilly air to getting in cool water..brrr! We had hoped to stay there to enjoy the ambiance but our toddler had other ideas, we left early to go back to the hotel. The facilities were very clean and the staff was friendly. I deducted a star because it was very expensive for our family of 3, and we didn’t have anything from the concession stands or get anything from the bar. I would go back in the future (hopefully with a babysitter) to find some relaxation.

With the amount of hype over the new construction I think I just expected more. The pools were different shapes and in different locations but all around the same temperature. The concrete work appeared to be crumbling around the edges and there was grit in the bottom of some pools that felt like crumbled concrete. Supposedly there are minerals in the water but it seemed pretty clear to me and not like water appeared before when it was concentrated to just one pool.
The stairs had framing and if you examine the sides the concrete appears to be eroding in some areas leaving gaps.
I avoided the salt water pool because it was full of kids who were running around without parents nearby despite the recent tragedy. I didn’t even bring the younger members of my family because I was so worried.
I did bring a member of my family who has a medical condition. We were hoping soaking and relaxing in a mineral pool would help her feel better. It did at first until an off duty member of their staff took issue with my boyfriend. I don’t know if the kid had been drinking but he yelled at us from sidewalk and when I asked him why he said he felt we were being disrespectful toward him. When I went inside to buy an overpriced towel and make a complaint he decided to confront my family a second time and ask why I “aggressively” confronted him about yelling at us. The people on duty said they would talk with him. Their response to abuse from a staff member to paying guests is “I will talk with him.” That was after trying to pretend they didn’t know who I was talking about and trying to tell me only two of them were on duty.
Which brings up a good point. Why were only two staff members on duty and one was on desk and one was just taking pool temperatures. Who was enforcing the “keep kids under seven within arms reach” rule? No one.
I didn’t try the food trucks but it was while I was directing my boyfriend to where my wallet was located that the kid took issue with us. I would have bought at least 5 overpriced drinks.
It works out to $15 dollars an hour to soak there and it’s just not worth it. It’s very overdone with no substance. They are most likely appealing to visitors and not repeat customers.

We visited here in mid-September for a soak and a massage. I highly recommend both the hot springs and the spa. We arrived just before 10am, got changed and hit the hot springs. They have many different size, shape and temperatures to choose from as well as cooler tubs to alternate with. We were here mid-week during the school year, so only one family with children was there. They do have a family area with a larger pool and an adults only area. People seemed to be aware of social distancing and didn’t crowd the pools/tubs. Someone walked around and checked the temps of the tubs often. This is a newer venue so there is still construction and landscaping going on, but it wasn’t bothersome.

The 80 minute massage we each had was amazing. The therapists were professional and listened to what we needed. Because of Covid restrictions we were not able to have a couples massage, hopefully they can start doing those again.

One really nice thing was the ability to get a glass of wine (bottle, actually) to enjoy after our soaks and before the massages. They are building a deck area that will serve food and alcohol that will be for members only, I believe. Sitting out under the stars with a glass of wine after a mineral springs soak is something I will look forward to the next trip to Durango.

This is the first time we have been to a hot spring and it was incredible. There are many pools of different sizes and temperatures. We went just as the sun went down so we could enjoy the sunset and night sky and it was beautiful. There was live music from a band that was very good. We left deeply relaxed. It was easy to use the locker rooms to change and shower and lockers were available for valuables. I would definitely go again if in Durango.

Although the pools are old and the whole place is being renovated, the spa is a great place for a massage. You can soak after or before your massage because the use of the pools is included in the price. Cheryl Pagano is an awesome massage therapist, especially if you are looking for someone to work out the kinks in your body. My go-to place for a great massage.

I took my sister who was visiting me from Texas to the hot springs here and I was so shocked by how rude the front desk lady was. She made us feel like us being there was a huge inconvenience and told us that we were to leave by 7:00 the latest and we got there at about 5:00. I understand that they have time frames but they don’t need to be rude when they are giving information. Her tone and bad attitude made us feel very unwelcome. How customers are treated needs to be evaluated. Yes the Durango Hot Springs are beautiful but not worth paying the price for a timed slot and then being treated like our business was an issue from the very start. I’m not so sure I will go back.

What a great place! They have really worked at updating and making this an enjoyable and unique experience. The whole place was clean, the staff were warm and friendly, and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Even though they were very busy over Memorial Day weekend, we spent several enjoyable hours soaking and playing with our grandkids in the pool!

Meticulously maintained landscaping and fastidious pools and grounds. Pool temperatures are well-marked and pools are well-maintained. Filters constantly being cleaned by staff. Grounds are gorgeous. Staff is so competent and friendly. Lockers are so easy to use and locker-restrooms are clean and bright. Walkways are exquisite travertine that is heated from underneath. Highly recommend!

we love this place for a relaxing few hours after outdoor adventures. There is minimal food service on Mondays though and outside snacks are not allowed. this made it difficult to spend the afternoon there with 2 small kids. the snack bar was out of almost all snacks besides chips and 1 sandwich, by 11:30 am. and that was all the food they would have for the rest of the day. Make sure you eat well before going on a Monday. you must bring your own towels also. Otherwise, every time we have visited, it has been wonderful.

This is our second time at the hot springs as we make an annual trip to Durango over the week after Christmas to ski. We were really disappointed because the resort doesn't seem to do much in the way of crowd control. We pai over $100 for a family of four for 2 hours (12/29/2023), we were frustrated with how many people were allowed in at one time. All of the hotter pools were so crowded we couldn't get any space for over an hour. One of the staff said the resort had a record for 1,200 people in one day. After one hour in the really shallow lukewarm area, we finally were able to split up and get into a hotter tub.

Spa massage therapist was disappointing, basically ran his elbow-forearm back and forth. He just didn’t have the feel for what feels good or healing. Or how to work out knots in muscles. Young kid with sandy slightly curly hair.
We have loved this Hot Springs and spa for 25 years and so this is really sad and disappointing.
I was so looking forward to a good massage and had gotten great massages there before the recent renovation of the spa-hot springs. We had had a busy week and we’re looking for a little soothing of muscles before our 2 day drive the next day. Price of massage includes use of hot springs. My wife had an ok massage, but the therapist didn’t work on her lower back as requested. Both our massages were 80 minutes. With the required 20% gratuity came to just shy of $400. All things considered that was the worst value for money massage I’ve ever had. The manager asked about my massage and I gently let her know. She did offer a 10% discount on my next visit. I’m not going to roll those dice again unless I hear they are back to their previously high standard.
