What travelers are saying
- Peggy S1 contributionThis museum was well worth a visit. They had so much to see, we spent two hours there. A wealth of information on mining in the Leadville area, including a very cool exhibit that visitors walk through that makes it feel as if you are in a mine, including the sounds of the equipment miners used way back when. Lots of minerals and ores to look at, many pieces of old equipment from the late 1800's on display, and very informative descriptions explaining the life of the miners.Written April 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kim KChicago4 contributionsWow. I waivered back and forth on driving to Ski Cooper versus staying in Vail and so glad I did. What a cool ski resort! Once the clouds lifted during the day it looked like we were in the Alps. Super easy parking, great little lodge to hang out and eat in. Hardly any lines for the lifts..LOVED IT.Written March 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- maryann v1 contributionthe air b n b was above exceptional. I enjoyed the time away from Denver's big city noise and congestion. This home was perfect. Every day I enjoyed myself like being on a special far away mini vacation. The fireplace, couch, smart outlets, and several cozy blankets to cover up with made the stay worth it. Easy access in and out of the home and location was simple. I took my sons dog Bella, she too felt at home. We both fit right in. Along with taking drives and walks daily to explore the scenery, we feasted on the towns marketplace and other fast dining's. I must mention the availability for me to see a dog nutritionist was the best ever. I was able to walk in, talk about Bella's diet and learn so much on her lifestyle and what food to engage in and how to intergrade it into what she has been eating. We drove to the mini airport and walked around. Such a neat town to go see, spend time and take pictures. Altitude is breath taking, take it easy and enjoy.Written December 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marcia SMooresville, NC3 contributionsDriving route 24 was
A fun day trip. We loved cruising through the small mining towns stopping at various lookouts and just appreciating the breathtaking Colorado Rockies. Even though it was early winter there was a sheer beauty in the starkness of the landscape dotted with snow. A definite if you like to drive the countryside.Written November 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Northeast Ridge trail is a very manageable to get to the top of the Rockies - literally. The total round trip took us about 5 hours and 45 minutes of movement - we paused for lunch and longer drink stops. The views from the top are absolutely stunning but do NOT climb without preparation and research on websites more specifically about hiking. And, start early not only because of the early afternoon storms but because the parking lot fills up fast. This is a very popular hike.Written August 11, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Gary S2 contributionsGreat old opera house and the tour of it was very informative and interesting. They are in the process of renovating it but while keeping that over 100 year old look.Written October 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - staledale1,542 contributionsGreat hike through the old Boston mining town. The first 1.5 +/- miles is fairly steep on an old Jeep road until you reach the abandoned mining area. Not sure if you want to go any further than this with younger kids, but if you're wanting to continue, there are great views at the top so but don't give up. After cresting the top, you can continue hiking across an open area and into the woods a bit to drop back down the opposite side of the gulch to the parking lot. There is no signage to follow in this area, so make sure you have your bearings. Around 4 ¾ - 5 +/- miles and 2-3 hours of hiking for the whole trip depending upon your speed, etc.Written December 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lisa JPlant City, FL762 contributionsWe had a great time at the Healy House. The guide was very
knowledgable with the houses and the poeple that lived there and the town in general. The cabin was so cute and unusual inside.Written August 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We did not talk to anyone that worked there, it was pretty quiet. There is a small pond by the hatchery itself that had good size fish in it, we were able to get pretty good pictures. There are several long pools with thousands of small fish in them. We also saw several cars in a lot to the side where there is a hiking trail, it must be popular tail.Written August 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - John DVail, CO2 contributionsGreat hike! So many things to see. Amazing to think what it took to build the railway up there and through the mountain. Not a strenuous hike in July. A few streams, several campers (tents) up by the lake. A little buggy down low but deer flies weren’t biting just buzzing. The tunnel is cool literally but going in on the ice is not advised. Looks collapsed deeper in but very cool to see just the same. The road up to the trailhead is best with a vehicle that has clearance and the final mile is narrow and rough.Written July 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brian BDenver, CO3 contributionsVery interesting and historical information about the active Jewish community within Leadville during the mining boom. An excellent restoration of the temple with early settlers artifacts make this an educational visit.3Written September 11, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
