Tomorrowland 2022 is completely sold with a whopping 600,000 tickets sold.
The Tomorrowland music festival has been postponed for two years due to the pandemic. But this summer, more than 600,000 people are expected to descend on Belgium for what is the largest music festival in the world. The theme for 2022 is ‘The Reflection of Love.’
“It sounds unreal in these times,” says Debby Wilmsen, a spokesperson for the festival. “After two years of absence, a pandemic, uncertainty, crisis, and a war, we are happy that there will be love and friendship in Boom.”
Tomorrowland 2022 will take place this year from July 15 to 17, July 22 to 24, and July 29 to 31. There will be more than 700 different artists spread across fourteen stages. Some of the acts slated to perform this year include Alan Walker, Alesso, Armin van Buuren, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Eric Prydz presents HOLO, Fisher, Kungs, Lost Frequencies, Major Lazer Soundsystem, Marshmello, Martin Garrix, Netsky, Paul Kalkbrenner, and hundreds of others.
The festival secured three weekends in Antwerp for the first time only in 2022. Festival organizers hope the large celebration will help recoup the losses experienced by the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 editions of the festival. Organizers estimate around $28 million in lost revenue due to not being able to organize for two years.
Tomorrowland 2021’s cancellation was especially hard on the organization. It was cancelled just two months before everything was planned when local officials denied a permit needed to hold the event. Tomorrowland hosted two virtual events instead. The first virtual event sold 140,000 tickets and a paid artists in a royalty-sharing scheme based on ticket sales.
The Tomorrowland 2022 music festival marks the first time in two years the physical festival is returning. “It is great to see that people [stayed] positive in those challenging years and we are looking forward to share love, music, and friendship soon,” says Wilmsen.
