Very easy , good views of woods in winter !! of course the lake in the cliffs make the hike for sure so pretty!!!
Feel free to stray off the path but hike it to the end! It’s worth it.
It was a good hike. I did cross or should I say diverted from the trail to miss large mud puddles that were fill with water. I think next time I hike it I’ll take trash bags with me and clean up the place, quite a bit of trash. Please party responsibly Trail head was not marked very well, good thing I know NESW
The trail is not well marked, so we got lost twice! Better for off reading or mountain bikes!
Ending view of the cliffs is nice, but the trail itself has trash strewn all over, and while we were hiking we were passed a couple of times by noisy smelly 4 wheelers.
Huge piece of wilderness with dozens if trails and also large sandy areas all through the shore of the Arkansas river right below the Keystone dam. Has everything from mild, medium, to jaw dropping dirt trails, a lot of sand and during rainy seasons mud. Watch out for kids on ATVs and Dirt bikes, take it easy and go slow around those blind corners. And yeah you can get stuck real easy. Sand is coarse and its rough and it gets in everything.
An easy and not very scenic hike until you reach the end point and then it’s beautiful. You could bring your swimsuits and go for a swim.
I went between 3.6 and 4.3 miles depending if you look at AllTrails or my watch. At the end of the posted trail there are several more primitive trails and you can actually get into the woods. It is primarily for ATVs so don’t go at busy times. I saw 5 and that was very light traffic. There are beer cans and broken beer bottles. Next time I come I’ll bring a sack. That part was depressing. Beware that after Jan 1 parts can be closed off for Bald Eagle nesting. Saw a deer. There is water to cross. Glad I had the waterproof boots.
Took our full-size Bronco -Badlands Sasquatch on the trail. It is marked as Ohv trail on All Trails, but it was unclear if the big 4x4's can drive on it. Didn't need to lower tire PSI and didn't have any issues driving to the end turnaround. Road was dry. Nice short trail with beautiful lake views at the end. Three definitive spots for cliff jumping, easy, medium, and crazy high. Everyone jumping was wearing lifejackets.
We loved this trail. It was also used by ATV’s. The trail head is not marked & neither was the trail.
Marked as an OHV 4x4 trail and this is NOT an OHV/ORV trail!
Trail is nice didn’t see any animals and cliff was nice!
Dirt trail with rocks. Parts were muddy but excellent views!!!
Pretty muddy with trash on the sides. The cliffs were worth it though!
The lake has washed up a lot of trash. Bringing trash bags next trip but a beautiful and easy hike!
Beautiful day, 70°! Windy, but most of the trail was out of the direct wind. Lake has amazing blue/green tint to it right now.
Stay away from this area. Game wardens as well as local law enforcement have been actively writing tickets. Especially in the Windfarm area. WE used to ride the area 3 or 4 times per year. Had done it for 6-7 years. Last time we where there we talked our way out of a ticket only because we had a broke bike. Game Warden said property owners and Weyerhaeuser where complaining about litter and noise from SxS's So consider the K closed... Thanks to the Redneck Beer Wagons.. Thanks ass hats
Nice hike, easy to follow UTV trails. The cliffs are a hot spot in the summer. Lots of trash: lower from flooding, upper from inconsiderate users. Very pretty area. Signs of deer.
Easy trail on ATV road. A lot of trash but the end view was nice.
Rocky mostly. It’s good for rock obstacles. There are plenty of mud holes on the sides. My Trail Boss is a little wide for some areas. The river was wide open so it limited us and we were by ourselves so we didn’t wheel too much. We met some cool folks in side by sides that let my 4yr old grandson sit in them. He was stoked.
More of a 4x4 and ATV than hiking trail but doable in all forms. Lots of sand, some mud holes and few hills with loose rock to climb. Great river access. I’d advise not wheeling too deep alone and be prepared to winch or traction board the sand/mud in spots depending on your rigs. I added some photos of us winching a guy out. Y’all have fun wheeling and enjoy.
Nice view but there was a lot trash along the trail
Theres a lot of trash along the trails, but otherwise good hike.
Was a fair hike. It is on the lake so there is a bit of trash but the end it well worth the way. The water is plenty deep enough for jumping/diving. Didn't realize there was an E. Coli warning until I got back to the car though cheers to survival!
You can definitely hike but these trails are used by ORV’s as it’s one of the most well-known rock-crawling areas in all of America. It’s really loud, very crowded, especially on nice weather days, and the part of the trail that crosses the creek is often flooded and too deep to walk across. There are often a lot of dead fish, very large ones, that get caught in the creek bed and the smell gets pretty bad sometimes. It does have some pretty views and when the dam gates are open the roaring water is quiet a sight.
Started the trail at Three Sticks Monument and took it West to the fire tower. It’s about an 1 1/2 hour trek during the evening. The next day we took the trail east for about 5 hours and pulled off at a fork in the road. Would recommend high clearance or at least upgraded suspension for this one. Would be rough going in a stock vehicle. Overall it was a good trail. Would do it again next time I’m in the area
Great trail, beautiful lake and cliffs.
couldn't even find the damn thing after driving for hours, absolutely no trail head that i could find. just a bunch of trailers and a marina, big waste of time and gas
Well trafficked path. Beautiful walk through the woods with a gorgeous view of the lake and cliffs.
So beautiful for fall. A lot of big puddles so make sure to wear shoes you can get dirty
The trail itself was nice, lots of terrain change and ultimately a view of the lake at the end where the cliffs are. The part we didn’t like was how nasty it was with all the trash and debris that people have left there over the years. People need to learn to be more respectful and considerate and not leave things they brought in. You bring it in, you take it out! We are better than this. Now on a sidenote we did spend 3 1/2 hours doing nothing but picking up trash along the way. We plan on going back and doing it a couple of more days, however there are some pretty large items left behind, like a couple of bumpers and a baby car seat. Once again…. Come on people we are better than that!!
My first off-road experience in a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon (with all the doors and windows left at home). While the OHV trails were unmarked and only mildly interesting (the optional mud pit can provide your vehicle with that decorative splash to take home with you), the real fun was in navigating the different types of terrain around (and through) the water! I’m also happy to say that bugs weren’t even a problem! All of the Rubicon’s electronic off-road gizmos really made for a fun rock crawling experience when tackling the more technical areas. Would visit again, but next time, with some friends!
The cliffs are worth it.. The trail was not my favorite
