PR king Max Markson reveals the WORST celebrity he's ever worked with during his four decades in the business: 'She went berserk at me'

PR legend Max Markson has revealed the most difficult celebrity he has encountered in his four decades as Australia's premier celebrity spruiker.

Markson, known as the 'king of spin', said Canadian supermodel Linda Evangelista 'was definitely the worst' star he encountered during his stellar career.

He had a bad experience with Evangelista in 1996 when she failed to dress appropriately for a launch party for a treadmill endorsed by media doyenne Ita Buttrose.

Markson recounted the incident on the Life, Money & Love podcast, hosted by Dylan Mullan, who shot to fame in 2020 after making $20million in two years.

'I shouldn't say this but Linda Evangelista was definitely the worst,' he said.

He explained how Evangelista, now 57, had asked him what she should wear to the event at Catalina Restaurant in Sydney's Rose Bay.

Markson, the founder of PR agency Markson Sparks!, advised her to wear 'something to go on the treadmill and then change into something beautiful'.

But Evangelista arrived at the function wearing a hoodie, shorts and a T-shirt - and presumably with no change of clothes.

The fashion model called Markson at 6am the next day, furious because a newspaper had compared her casual outfit to something a cleaner would wear.

'The next day, my phone starts ringing at six o'clock, which always means there's something wrong,' Markson said.

'And Linda Evangelista wants to give me a right mouthful, which she does, because in The Sydney Morning Herald that day, it said: "Linda Evangelista was dressed like she was going out to clean the loo [toilet] on a Sunday morning."'

He added: 'She went berserk at me! Not that I wrote the story, but because I hadn't advised her what to wear. And there was no point in trying to tell her that I did.'

She went on to 'badmouth' Markson at a charity dinner that night and refused to let him speak to her, the veteran publicist said.

Evangelista recently made a triumphant return to the modelling scene following a six-year absence due to an adverse reaction to a fat-freezing procedure she claims disfigured her face.

She made her first runway appearance in 15 years when she took part in the star-studded Fendi show at Manhattan's Hammerstein Ballroom to kick off New York Fashion Week.
