“Just back from a lovely trip to the Eternal City and this time we decided to splash out by staying at the tried and tested Hotel Stendhal. Booking directly with them via their website we were treated to first class service and accommodation. Everything went smoothly from the slick check in to the super fast wi-fi in both the rooms and common areas. Fabrizio and Suraj were particularly helpful when it came to restaurant recommendations and they also helped us organise our taxi to the airport. We plan to come back next Summer 2023.

Dear Customer, It is really a pleasure for us to read the commentary on your stay. I personally want to thank you for having found the time and the words to describe your impressions about us and our hotel. I'm glad you could appreciate the comfort of our luxury, sober and refined, where the generous spaces create a warm and welcoming environment like that of your own home. We are also grateful for the words spent on our staff, who obviously knew how to meet your expectations and needs. Everything we do, what distinguishes us, is only the attention to detail, like the real hosts who welcome not just guests, but welcome friends, to let him live a warm and harmonious experience away from the impersonality and monotony of places already seen. We will be happy to welcome you here again, to start from where we left off. Best wishes, Franco Ascoli – HS ROME

Once again I enjoyed areally wonderful stay at the Stendhal. I parked on the opposite side of the road – as instructed by Fabrizio at reception – and the valet car park attendant appeared within minutes which was brilliant… Check-in was extremely smooth and my passport was handed back to me 30 seconds after compiling the form. The room was a normal double – for single use - which was extremely comfortable and very quiet. The TV screen was big enough and I enjoyed catching up on the international news via the English speaking channels. Breakfast has changed slightly since the last time as due to the new rules on Covid the buffet is no longer accessible…. This means that one simply has to order our breakfast from the A La Carte Menu , I enjoyed my usual cereals and fresh fruit followed by coffee and a croissant (scrambled eggs and other hot items were on the menu but it was simply too hot to order stuff like that.) Fabrizio and Marco at reception gave me some great tips for eating out including one Trattoria just round the corner which made the best Carbonara I’ve had for a long time. The hotel let me stay for an extra hour or 2 before checking out which was much appreciated given how hot Rome was. Will definitely be back next year!

We really enjoyed staying here -I was in a twin room with my daughter to the front of the building which can be a little noisy at night but had a gorgeous window seat and balcony window to watch the world go by .The room was well equipped with a mini fridge and complementary water and Coca Cola .I asked for fresh milk for my tea and wasn’t charged for this to be brought to the room and could keep it chilled . The bath was a bonus as often smaller boutique hotels only have a shower . The staff were very friendly and got to know us quickly .We felt very safe in this hotel .It’s in a great location for transport or even just walking -Trevi only 5 mins away . The breakfast is organised in half hour options Id recommend avoid the 10 o’clock as by then the eggs are finished and no more cooked .The tables are too small so it can be a bit of a juggle to place everything out that you’d want but the staff again were very helpful and would bring whatever you needed such as cold milk or orange juice as extras and remembered what we had asked for and had it recalled for the next day .Service with a smile and very friendly . Be prepared to queue a little and you won’t be rushed away once you are seated .Don’t be rude like some people were if they had to wait for a table ! I would definitely stay here again but maybe ask for a quieter room at the back if you don’t want street noise .

Overall the hotel was very nice, however our room got very hot at night. The front desk worker said they don't have air conditioning in the winter. Our room would stay about 75°F at night. The only option was to open the window to cool the room, however the street noise was too loud to sleep. So we would cool the room by leaving the window open and closing it when we went to bed. However, the room would still heat back up even with the heat turned off and I would wake up in the middle of the night too hot. They could really improve by having air conditioning year round for the kind of money we're spending to stay here!

Good service and good size room. Could do with a better shower though. My bathroom was a shower over bathtub. The design of the shower on the bathtub was not great. I had to use the hand shower instead as the overhead shower tend to spill outside the tub.

The Hotel Stendhal has a great location within walking distance of Rome's attractions. it is located just feet from Barberini Square/Fountain, where the Metro and taxis are available. The room was very nice with deluxe features like a bidet, towel warmer and a window that opened to a good view. The staff was professional and very helpful. Last of all, the breakfast was excellent.

Our bedroom was very clean and comfortable, with a well equipped bathroom, fridge and safe. Towels were changed daily, sheets every other day. Our room was serviced to a high standard each day and we appreciated the little touches of bottled water, replenished daily. The hairdryer was satisfactory for drying hair, but not for styling. The staff were all delightful, and the dining room staff very quickly knew our order and were most obliging in refreshing our coffee pot several times. The only reason I haven't given this hotel 5 stars is that certain foods at breakfast ran out quickly and weren't necessarily replaced, the scrambled eggs for one.

The staff in all areas were really nice and helpful. The suite room was clean and nice, the air con was strong (we were there in the heatwave). We walked from here to all attractions (Coloseum etc), except the vatican which was 12 euro in a taxi, it is walkable but in the heat then with 20k steps on top to go round everywhere a taxi fine, use the Freenow app or any metered taxi. Plenty of nice local food restaurants, just check out google maps and restarants 4.4 or above. Water, coke, fanta are free in the minibar and we had a free bottle of red wine. It took me a day to realise that as there is no curtain in the bathroom i could close the outside shutters. Breakfast was nice and fresh, also ask for bottles of water if you need them. We could leave luggage after checkout.

Walking from Roma Termini in 100 degrees weather and humidity in Rome to hotel Stendhal was a big challenge. However, as soon as you walk into the door, you are greeted with smiles and welcoming with true professionalism. They immediately brought out cold bottles of water and it was so thoughtful. It was such a delight to be there for 5 nights and 6days. From checking in, from using the concierge services, daily housekeeping by Lui...., breakfast service by Simona, we've been treated like VIPS, and like an extended family. The room was cleaned everyday with crisp sheets, fresh towels and amenities and comforters. Every morning, you start your day with delicious breakfast with world best service by Simona. Simona was a true blessing for our family. Thank you so much for taking great care of us for 6 days. We will definitely come back again.

Nice hotel, although the room was small and breakfastroom gets overcrowded starting 8 a.m. Good breakfast. Good central location. Rooms 4, 5. and 6 (on each floor) are good for sleeping because they are on the courtyard side, no trafic noise there.

We had previous arrangements with our travel agent: pick up at airport to hotel Stendhal and pickup from hotel to cruise port/docks, 3 of us. Pleasant drivers, small vans. We heard from a couple guests at the hotel that you can take the train to the docks but I'm unfamiliar with it.
