Nestled in the French Quarter, Hotel Monteleone charms guests with its historic elegance, which shines through in details like live music and festive decorations. Many visitors commend the hotel's prime location and the spotless condition maintained by diligent housekeeping. The Carousel Bar and rooftop pool stand out among its praised amenities. While service is generally lauded for being attentive, there are occasional reports of slower responses. Nonetheless, some guests consider the hotel overpriced, particularly noting the expensive parking and room rates that seem to outweigh the value offered.

The Hotel Monteleone outdid themselves accommodating the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters Annual Convention.

While planning the event, Kristie, Stephanie, Tramon, and Terri were extremely helpful and attentive to our needs and questions. Our valet Carlos was very kind and loaded a ton of things we brought down for the convention into our car. Our bellmen coming and going, Daniel and Michael, ensured our things made its way safely and were a pleasure to work with.

Once the Convention was rolling, Robert and his partner, (who's name I unfortunately can't recall) were up and down between our meeting rooms, constantly ensuring everything was taken care of, from water refills to going out of their way to help our staff assemble and position a large step and repeat banner.

Dennis and Kristie were constant, hard-working reliant contacts throughout our entire stay. They both truly did whatever they could to ensure our event and needs were being taken care of. Tramon and Aaron in AV definitely got their steps in walking down to Royal Rooms and always came with a solution when AV snafus arose. In the lobby, Noor was very kind and helpful as well.

The catering staff, as always, were attentive and a genuine pleasure to work with. Especially Bob and his manager, who allowed Bob to play live piano for our Closing Celebration in the Riverview Room after we heard him practice during his break while the room was being set up (if you need a great piano player, hire Bob!). It was the perfect way to end our Convention.

The Hotel Monteleone is one of the best places to stay in New Orleans, whether staying for a business conference or for vacation. Its a beautiful facility with rich history and wonderful employees who always seem to have a smile on their face. We will definitely be back!

This historic hotel was beautifully decorated for the holidays and in the perfect location on a quiet street and close to Bourbon Street, restaurants, streetcar stops, and shops. Rooms were clean and staff all following Covid protocols. Never a problem to request additional toiletries, coffee supplies, etc. from the front desk with limited housekeeping. Seating at the Carousel bar was closed but tables in the lounge/bar were available for drinks and food during our visit. Friendly front desk and valet staff made for an enjoyable trip.

Myself and my younger sister stayed here for my 40th birthday in June and it was the most amazing hotel ever. The staff are lovely and can’t do enough for you. The bar staff are amazing and I would recommend the pina coladas as they are amazing!! The carousel bar can get busy at times ESPECIALLY Thursday - Sunday so get there early. The rooms were spacious, clean and designed in keeping with the style of the hotel and age of the hotel, so if you want something super modern this isn’t really for you. We could see and hear the jazz music late into the night from Bourbon Street but I personally loved it. The roof top pool was nice but again pretty busy, so get there in good time if you would like a bed. Towels are provided there for you. Location wise this hotel is perfect as it is close enough that you are away from the real busy areas but close enough that you can walk to these within 5 - 10 mins. I can’t recommend this hotel enough and I wish I could go back again tomorrow. New Orleans certainly stole my heart and I wish I could have stayed there. I defo recommend the vampire cafe for food (especially the steak) just a 5-10 mins walk!

As part of a pending birthday celebration, I decided that I really wanted to enjoy Mardi Gras. With that thought in mind I selected Hotel Monteleone for my stay.

This is a hotel with quite a history; all very nicely described on one of the TV channels. The location of the hotel is very nicely placed in the French Quarter; enabling you to walk to the various bars and attractions on Bourbon Street.

On arrival at the hotel I was warmly welcomed by the team, my room was well maintained and very comfortable. Given the opportunity to return to New Orleans I would check availability at this hotel first.

We have stayed here several times at various seasons and have found it to be consistently excellent. This is a beautiful hotel located conveniently located on Royal Street in the French Quarter. If you have visited the French Quarter, you know this is a premier location. Royal Street is one of the very best locations for Antique Shops and Art Galleries as well as the very best restaurants in the city. Jackson Square is just a few blocks along with the famous Cafe du Monde. For those who crave the night life, Bourbon Street is only one block over, but you don't have the noise and chaos.

The rooms are spacious by most standards and are maintained in immacucate condition. We have never been disappointed. The only negative point we would make is that parking is not convenient. Valet parking is the only alternative and tends to take at least 15-20 minutes to receive the vehicle. In addition, access to anything that needs to be retrieved later is most inconvenient. As with parking in many big city hotels, the cost of parking adds significantly to the cost of the stay.

We have visited New Orleans several times over the past 25 years and about 20 years stayed at this French Quarter classic. It was quite the experience then and we figured we would stay here again in the future. About 10 ago we stayed on Bourbon Street and vowed not to do that again, no matter how nice the hotel. The Monteleone completed a major renovation in 2012 and it seen a good time to stay there again.

The hotel dates back to 1886 when a Sicilian cobbler, Antonio Monteleone, decided to follow a new line of business and bought a small hotel on Royal Street. He did well, and the hotel continued to expand and grow. It survived the Great Depression. Hotel Monteleone was a favorite hotel among writers including Ernest Hemingway, Tennessee Williams, William Faulkner, Stephen Ambrose (Band of Brothers), Anne Rice and John Grisham. In the 1950s a major renovation took place and the hotel was completely rebuilt.

There was definitely a fresh feeling to the hotel compared to the mustiness I recalled from our first stay, especially in the hallways. The traditional, ornate and elegant decor remained, of course. Our room was well-appointed, cozy, comfortable and quiet. There were sufficient power outlets and USB ports at the work desk. The bathroom was small but sufficient for our needs. We had no issues with street noise.

The lobby had a few couches, something I always appreciate. The staff at reception were friendly and efficient. The Carousel Bar and Lounge was packed every night of our long weekend in the Crescent City. We usually ended up getting our drinks at the other, non-rotating bar. One evening Travis made our sazeracs and was quite the raconteur. We enjoyed our breakfasts at Criollo; of course we had a pain perdu on morning. It was warm enough to check out the rooftop bar and take a brief soak in the pool.

The Monteleone was well-located within the French Quarter, towards the side of Canal Street, perfect for catching the Mardi Gras parades coming down St. Charles then turning onto Canal.

This was out third visit to the Monteleone. Things have changed since out first visit. There was construction going on which made it troublesome to navigate the sidewalk. We were not informed in advance of this construction work. The room was adequate but eh bathroom presented a problem. Both the tub and the bathroom floor were very slippery and use caution. The staff was very professional and helpful. Dining at the hotel is a pricey. What turned us off was the email we received the morning of checkout. It said that a later departure of two hours would cost $117. I have never had that happen in any hotel. Many 5-star hotels where we have stayed allow an extra hour or two if other rooms were available at no cost. Overall, the quality of stay did not match the price. Finally the housekeeping staff only made the beds. The trash cans were not emptied and the towels were not replaced.

Stayed here for a conference and the rooms were immaculate and I've never had such amazing housekeeping service (they even tidied my charging cables each day)! The staff throughout were professional and kind, especially the staff at the pool (Earl and Jason). They gave us insights about local culture and places to check out. I've never been to New Orleans and this is right near the best place for beignets (Cafe Beignet) and great places to eat (Curio was recommended by a person working at the front door - I didn't get their name - and we went twice because it was delicious and well priced). Live music by the Carousel Bar was also a great experience even just having a cool glass of water after time spent exploring in the evening. One tip: they tell you your room is in a certain tower with specific elevators but all elevators will get you to the right floor if you don't mind a few small steps between towers on that floor. As a government employee at a government training we couldn't afford to eat at the restaurant on site with per diem, but it looked very nice from afar. They do put a substantial hold on your card per day above the room rate but clear that when you check out. It is clear this hotel is out to win your business even when you are already a guest. Included photos of my room in 764 and also the conference room view and the pool at night (open until ten). Oh, and the umbrella in the room is a great touch for all the random rain showers.

We're thrilled to hear that you found our rooms immaculate and experienced excellent housekeeping service. We're glad you enjoyed the live music at the Carousel Bar and had a great time at nearby attractions like Café Beignet and Curio. We appreciate your tip about the elevators and are glad you found the umbrella in the room useful. We hope to have the pleasure of hosting you again for another exceptional stay in the future. Front desk personnel were helpful, location is excellent. We asked for a bigger room also called "Preferred" but it was still very small. The smoke alarm and "AC detector" (that's what we were told it was) are very bright and hard to ignore them through out the night. Our room had a nice view of the Mississippi river, however, there are two giant AC units at a nearby building which were very loud. Avoid this side of the building if a 24 hour noise bothers you. Carpet in room and hallways are in desperate need of a good cleaning. Furniture was dusty.

The takeaway here is if you are looking to stay in New Orleans, and especially in the French Quarter, there is nowhere else to look but here. The Hotel Monteleone gets my highest recommendation. Please read on for the details. Part of me hesitates to praise the hotel as much as I will, to keep it to myself and have it be more available for future bookings, however, it deserves to be recognized here for what it is.

To start, I think the most important thing to recognize is this is a fifth-generation family owned property which makes all the difference.

I have traveled the world, and after spending seven nights at the Hotel Monteleone for the first time, I can unequivocally say it was the finest Hotel experience we have ever had. It is also the first time that I could not find a single fault across all categories including hospitality, room comfort and amenities, service, restaurant dining and bar options, housekeeping, and facility maintenance. As a facility manager myself, I can always find some issue; a worn something here, a chip there, A/C issues, dirty this or that. This hotel passed every category I could think of, and I could find no faults or issues.

The hotel has the remarkable ability to make you feel like you have stepped back in time when you walk into the lobby, and yet it is pristine and so well preserved and kept up, that it feels like it opened yesterday.

I prefer the older classic hotel experience over the modern contemporary versions, so bear that in mind. With recent upgrades to the Iberville Tower, this hotel will also provide some of that modern upgraded experience in their newly refurbished rooms. This is a hotel where one can easily choose to just sit in the Lobby and watch the world go by. It is generously furnished comfortably with sofas and easy chairs allowing for that.

After inquiring about more of the Hotel’s history, I was referred to “Hotel Al”, a 60+ year employee who, in his 80s, still works part time and was a wonderful resource and had remarkable stories from the past. You can find a wonderful documentary film about him with a search of “Hotel Al”, on YouTube.

One of the many unique offerings here is the Carousel Bar, which opened in 1949. It is a circular bar with hand painted bar stools that revolves completely every 15 minutes. You have to arrive at the 11:00 a.m. opening to guarantee a seat, otherwise we found it to be completely occupied throughout the day and night.

The Hotel Monteleone has been around for over 100 years, and I hope that it has 100 more.

Hi, We stayed there at Christmas time so I am sure it was an elevated price...something like $250 a night but of course there are MANY add ons and parking is $50 a day!!! If you are looking to stay in the French Quarter Place De Arms slam in the middle of the Quarter and close to Cafe DuMonde is great and a little cheaper but the same on parking. go by train and don't fool with a car or fly and uber. uber has gotten very expensive als0,

The hotel is old and very gracious. Rooms are not that large - no idea about the suites, but the Staff is amazing and helpful. It is within walking distance to whatever the French Quarter offers. No it doesn't seem to cater to children - but has a pool and workout facility. If you want the true French Quarter "experience", there is no better choice than the Monteleone.
