We recently stayed at El Silencio del Campo and absolutely loved this place. This is set apart from hotels in that each room is actually a separate structure called a villita. Each separate villita provides tons of space and privacy surrounded by lush tropical foliage and (when clear) a beautiful view of Arenal volcano. The grounds have three hot spring baths, each one a bit warmer than the first, as well as pools and a jacuzzi tub. Each villita also has a covered patio where you can sit and enjoy the view of volcano. I found myself waking early and drinking coffee while staring at the volcano and listening to the wildlife (and farm animals). The restaurant is small but the breakfasts are delicious (we didn't try dinner, instead opting to go into town). We are told the eggs are fresh from the farm. Service is impeccable.

This was our first destination on a seven day trip to Costa Rica. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. Spacious rooms, good food at the restaurant, staff was pleasant and extremely helpful. Our favorite parts were the hot springs and the free breakfast. The grounds were very quiet during the evening and the only other travelers seemed to be families or couples. As three guys in their mid-twenties, we didn't mind the relaxed and quiet atmosphere.

This place is a gem! We loved the privacy of the cabins, and the fact that there are only 23 (there's no #13) which keeps it peaceful. We loved all the pools (my personal favorite was the hot spring pool), breakfast was delicious with farm fresh eggs, milk, and farm cheese made on premises. We visited their farm a couple of times, and the farmer Alejandro taught us how to milk a cow, and let us collect eggs and hold the 4 day old lamb:) The staff were all lovely, and arranged all of our day trip adventures. Last, but not least, the spa was amazingly relaxing!

We were acting as guides for friends who had never been to Costa Rica. We wanted them to experience the La Fortuna/Arenal area. We chose Silenco based on TripAdvisor recommendations even though we had stayed elsewhere about 10 years ago. What a wonderful choice! The bungalows were perfect. Good wi-fi signal in the room; Coffee service, bathrobe and extra towels for the springs. We were actually put in a handicap-accessible room, even though we did not need it. Please don't let a disability hinder your visit: you would be will accommodated! The grounds were lovely. Bird feeders were located throughout - it was so much fun to watch them even though we are not birders. Our choice was not based on the onsite hot springs - but did we ever have fun! Dinner was not five star, but it was better than average. The included breakfast was very good. Next trip, we will plan to stay more than one night.

My boyfriend and I recently visited Costa Rica for 10 days. We stayed in La Fortuna for the first 4 days. Not only was the surrounding area the highlight of our trip, but hotel silencio del campo made it even better! As we checked in the staff were attentive and friendly and answered any and all questions. They helped book some adventures for us including white water rafting and atv tour. The rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. It was nice to feel like you had your own little house in the garden. The grounds were beautifully kept and simply nice to wander around. The hot springs were un crowded and very nice to relax in after a long day of activities. I did a lot of research before picking a hotel and was very pleased with my choice. We wish we stayed here the entire 10 days. Highly recommend this hotel, we will definitely be back!

My family really enjoyed our brief stay at El Silencio. If we ever return to this area we would definitely stay here again. My parents had a bungalow and my family of four had our own. Eliomar answered several questions for me by email before we arrived, and the staff were very friendly and attentive when we were there. The grounds are beautiful and we all really enjoyed the various hot spring pools. As others have said, even though the hotel had many guests it never felt crowded. We especially liked the breakfast.

We were very happy with our choice after our stay here. The grounds are beautiful, the view of the volcano is mesmerizing and the staff was incredible. Everyone was ready to help in any way they could and they seemed to genuinely take pride in their resort. There is a small farm on the property, and all of the eggs and milk and cheese are produced on the premises. We had walked over to check out the animals and an employee enthusiastically showed us around, telling us all about the number of eggs and other things. It was pretty cool.

Our chalet was great. It was nice to feel a little bit isolated from all of the other travelers by having a small "house" to ourselves. The A/C was cold, the room was spacious and it was a nice place to come back to after a long day of adventures. We took advantage of the hot springs (nice and relaxing) on site as well as the breakfast a few mornings. They put fruit on a tree across from the eating area so you can watch birds come and eat it, which was very cool. Some beautiful birds could be seen all around and it was a really pleasant way to start the day. I would recommend this hotel to any friend or family member who was looking to stay in this area.

From the time we arrived the entire staff bent over backwards to make us happy. The accommodations were very comfortable and clean. The grounds are perpetually cared for and beautiful. The hot spring pools are a wonderful place to relax after the days adventure.
Don't expect the dining experience to be 5 star but the choices are surprisingly varied.
Again, the staff at the hotel is helpful and friendly beyond all explication.

A real gem this. You are immediately struck by the beauty of the grounds. They are stunning and full of colourful birds. The birds are fed at breakfast time and as a result breakfast may take a while as you will keep stopping to take photos.

Staff are great, especially reception staff who helped us with trips, taxis etc. I would particularly mention Eylin in this respect as she was so helpful to us.

Having hot springs on site is great to relax after a busy day of activities. There is also a conventional swimming pool. The girls made use of the lovely peaceful spa and found it to be very good.

Only downside was the restaurant was not great. Breakfast was disappointing and for an evening meal you are better off getting a taxi into La Fortuna (even with the $8 cab fare). This is made up for by the bar by the hot springs which serves a great range of good value and very tasty hot snacks (buffalo wings, onion rings, nachos etc). If you are going to stay on site to eat this is a really good option.

Every minute of our stay was special and made us feel so pampered. It is an exceptional property and rivals anything we experienced in our travels. The grounds, the cabins, and the pools were breathtaking with amazing views of the volcano. We ate dinner in the resort twice and the food was excellent. The pools are beautiful and private. Relaxing and tranquil was the vibe and we loved it. Never felt we missed a thing by not going to the touristy springs when we had our own private ones! The front desk was always so helpful and engaging. Top notch experience and can't wait to return someday!

There are a few pools at the hotel, but all are very warm. Hot tub temperature maybe 102 degrees. Not sure how comfortable swimming would be. The farm is really a treat and totally unique

We visited Apr/May 2021. High rise building next door was a bit of an eyesore, but no noise whatsoever. It would appear they werenā€™t doing very well. Rooms were dark in the evening, to me indicating no guests. We always opt for something local and charming and Silencio was just that. We wouldnā€™t consider staying a anywhere else. Absolutely loved it!
